I'm definitely going to have to make this investment if i get into the game this year, looks way more comfortable, and i've removed the "peck pads" below the shoulder pads, only problem i've seen with mine after i've done this is that it leaves my armpits somewhat exposed, has anyone else done this and experienced the same? My only objection to the peck pads was whenever i would raise my arms to call time, ring somebody up or even go on a 1st to 3rd rotation the pads would stick out and looks like I had "boobs" sticking out under my arms... a lot of hassle and adjusting to deal with.

That is a sweet setup.

And I should get to test-drive it on Monday, at Pinson Valley. I need to go to that one. Any idea what time it'll be over?

My guess is 6-ish...

How much did the retrofit for the Gold cost?

Blue they are getting $119 for the retro on the gold. It takes about 4 weeks on the turn around.

Will the DF work on the Gold "as is" without modifications?

Like a few others, I also ended up adding about 3 inches of straps onto the top of the Delta Flex.

The plastic buckles it comes with are attached directly to the end of the straps, whereas with the metal hooks, I needed extra strap to run them back through a second time. Easy to do via the helpful mother-in-law.

Whoa! You can send Jason at JEUA your old Gold. For not even $100 more than you would give TW, he will replace your old foam with kevlar and throw throw the plastic away

Wore my Platinum TW retro yesterday. Unfortunately, I only worked one and one-half innings behind the plate, and no contact to the CP at all. It was very light, and quite comfortable. I kept it on though 10 innings of "coaching" newer guys at the plate. It felt really good.

Ok, so after a few issues with Team Wendy and having to have it redone to my specification.  I now have my love back.  And man do I love this set up! Wilson Platinum with delta flex and team wendy custom cut with no wings under my arms and riveted shoulder caps.

Wore my TWed Gold tonight in an indoor scrimmage.

Didn't get hit but the lack of bulk is really striking.

Didn't feel like a middle linebacker out there!

Well let me put to rest any concern about getting hit....took a foul ball right smack dab in the middle of my TW retrofitted gold in a D1 game last week. F1 was clocked at 92, batter swings and just barely tipped it. the ball hit me square........didn't feel a thing.

What exactly did you have them do differently?

Called3K- i had them trim the neck larger on the top and bottom as to not choke me. Like I'd seen on others they'd done.  As well as I had them not put the "wings" under the arm like you see on other platinums.  I asked them to trace exactly where I had marked in order to have the cut that I wanted.  Not exactly where wilson's diagram says too.  I also rivited the shoulder caps on instead of velcro.  As for getting hit.  I too got blown up a few times with a pitcher throwing 90+  And you don't feel it.  It makes a louder sound then before but I'm not worse for wear.  And it's much more low profile.

What I like the most is the Home Run Monkey sticker.  Is the best!

Would someone post a pic of the retrofitted gold or platinum worn? I am curious just how much less bulky it looks compared to the stock CP.

I wanted to, but they will only retro the velcro champions. Mine has the rivets. Have been unable to find the old one anywhere.

Good evening fellas.  I've always worn a Platinum and have been real happy with it for the most part, especially after installing a DF harness.  Only concern I have stems from having a 46" chest and 54" shoulders...I'm not as protected in the pec, shoulder, upper arm area as I'd like.  So, have had my eye on a Gold and got one last year after finding a great deal.  I wore it just a couple of games....protection was great, but between my dimensions and the padding on this thing, felt like I was ready to put a football helmet on again.

Saw this thread, corresponded with Sheilah and shipped it off 8 March.  She told me it would probably be around 10 April before they could get it back to me, and that my account would be charged when it shipped.

Hats off to Sheilah and Team Wendy as I saw the charge hit my card last Wednesday, and Friday afternoon it was delivered!  Extra kudos as I asked them if they could add an extra inch of padding at the bottom and they did just that.  Cost was a little more than previously posted...$130 shipped.  Not sure if that was from the extra material, new prices or both.

It does weigh a bit more, but the profile difference and protection will more than make up for that...these are the same folks who make the padding we wear in our military ACHs (Advanced Combat Helmets), and I can assure you they work, as can those who wear TW pads on their masks (me included).

As someone requested and Timothy did previously, I'll get some pictures in the next coupla days wearing it with both the original pads and the TW pads.  Here are the pics of it as received.  Of course, I'll be putting a DF harness on it as well.

If I had this done I'd probably ask them to remove the side pads...I see no real use for them

They are only held on by thread. I took mine off with a seam ripper.

Have you ever considered having them attached with velcro to give you the option of using them? The retro-fit photos looked like the protection wouldn't be as cumbersome with the thinner padding.

Those mother in law's are very handy with a needle and thread, plus painting a house.
