Tomorrow is HS opening day. This year, it comes with a 80% chance of rain.

A few seasons ago, in my last HS regular season game, the third pitch of the game was lined back up the middle, and hit F1 flush in the mouth. I raced to the mound where he stood (yes, STOOD). He was obviously in shock. He opened his mouth and spit blood all over my pants and plate shoes. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and had surgery that night to repair his broken chin and to remove what was left of four broken teeth. Scariest thing I have ever witnessed on a baseball field.

I have been using Anti Monkey Butt Powder for years. It does a great job, and I don't have problems with clumps of power exiting through my pant legs.

A few years back, I had to stop a varsity HS game on opening day, because snow made it impossible to see the ball coming off of the bat. In central Alabama. SMH...

I ejected our baseball assignor from a middle school basketball game he was coaching. He was used to pushing people around. His mistake was that he threatened my baseball schedule and there were witnesses. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Were there repercussions for his threat ?

I had KCCC here in Alabama several years ago. The older gentleman that was their HC came out, spoke to my partner in passing, and then headed toward the mound. I turned and trotted to LF. I heard from behind me "You aren't gonna outrun me to the fence, son". LOL

I'm sorry my friend, SC isn't the "Heart of Dixie". Alabama is, lol.

So the game was moved to last night, and my partner and I kept the assignment. I worked the plate in game one, a 6 1/2 inning 6-1 game. Smooth as glass, and done in under two hours. Game two went 10 innings, in about three hours. Temperature when we walked off the field ? A brisk 23 degrees. But, opening games under my belt.

You suck. I'm happy for you, but you still suck.

So the high school season begins here on Monday, and I have a varsity DH, featuring two of our contracted schools. Both are very solid teams. Now the forecast calls for sleet/freezing rain/snow beginning around midnight Monday morning. Host school send a text letting me know that they are pushing the games back to Tuesday, but no one expects to be playing then, either. The high for Wednesday is expected to be 35, and rain moves in on Friday into Saturday. So, it could be that between the inclement weather, cold, rain, and soggy fields, there may be no baseball played in central Alabama this coming week. What a great way to start the season !
