Those of us who have been around a while know what type of game we've had. When I walk off of the field, I know. I will run particular pitches, or plays through my head immediately after the game, whether I know I had a good or bad game. Honest analysis of your games is key to continuing to improve, rather than hitting a plateau and being happy with it.

No. Just. No. We are there to arbitrate the game, not make a spectacle of ourselves. The old adage "no one goes to a game to see the umpires" is remarkably true. Called third strikes should be called with more emphasis than the first two, but not at the expense of looking like a clown. I would challenge your "guarantee" remark, too. There is no need to look as if you are producing a musical comedy when ringing up a third strike. It's unnecessary, unbecoming of the position, and causes people to lump us in one big pile. I know that I have given you grief over your musical tastes, but in this instance, I am not giving you grief. You are wrong. How many MiLB or MLB umpires carry on those type of antics ? Zero.

As others have said...unless the field is on fire, let the umpires on the field handle their own problems. Deal with issues after the game in private. You start inserting yourself in the game and every Tom, Dick and Harry and their wives are going to come running to you to resolve everything including a safe/out call they don't like at 1st base. Don't even get involved then. That's a TD issue. Protests and injured/ill umpires--that's all you do. It's really probably more of an FD issue, lol...

There is a rumor that Majestic will not be the official supplier of MLB umpire Uni's next year. Nike will supply the uniforms for both teams and umpires. Whoa. So, the nauseating Oregon Duck colors on the bases? I would jump on that bandwagon! Hope they make them wide. AMEN !

In my associations, tenure gets you your choice of positions. I personally prefer to work the plate in nearly any given game. That being said, I will sometimes choose to work the bases in a bigger/better game, so that a younger or less-experienced partner has an opportunity to gain some confidence and experience.

Not to be rude, but which is it ? If he's getting any game he wants, why is he complaining ?

Good music knows no age... Yeah that would explain why you've bashed on most if not all of the songs I've used/mentioned. I have bashed them based on the fact that I think they sucked, NOT based on the ages of the artists. Big difference. And please note. I have never bashed you for liking them...

17-19 y/o Dizzy Dean State Tournament semi-final game. Visitors up 3-0 in the bottom of six. HT scores two, with two out and R2. Base hit to left-center, R8 makes a great play on the ball, and the relay comes to the plate. Runner never checks up, leads with a forearm trying to go through F2. Out three, Simple Simon ejection. Bottom of seventh. 3-2, with R1. R1 attempts a steal on a high pitch. Batter clearly checks his swing, As F2 throws, the batter(RH) rolls toward the third base line, to prevent interfering. Throw does not retire R1. DHC says "He went around (although I had already called "No, he did not go") check him ! I oblige and check with my partner, who confirms that the batter did not offer. At this point I hear from the dugout "That's horrible. Just horrible. You're horrible", and it wasn't said in a conversational tone, either. I look into the dugout and make eye contact with an Ass coach, who tells me "Yeah, I said you're horrible". Needless to say, off came the mask, and out went the ass. He first thought he would stand at the 1B gate. When informed that he would not, he chose to go into the street running past LF, and continued his tirade about how awful my partner and I were. Partner takes the ball from F1, and tells the HC that we will resume when this jackass is out of sight and sound. HC replies "He's a grown man, I can't make him do anything", at which point the age-group Director from DD told the coach that he had one minute to get rid of him, or the Director would forfeit the game. Needless to say, HC suddenly WAS able to do something about it. Home team scores two runs to win in the bottom of 7. The one humorous part was a fan from the home team said "He lives there, Blue. Let's play baseball. He does not live there. The house he was in front of was previously owned by Pete Jr, and the ass coach was not the purchaser when Jr sold the house !

You neglected to include the part that Ron was also sitting behind home and didn't move an inch while his BU went out. It was implied....
