Pete Jr has several visible tattoos. He works his college schedule with compression-type sleeves to cover them. In HS ball, he picks his spots for the sleeves. At the state umpire camp a few years back, he directly asked the asst. director of the state association if the tatts would have any bearing on his advancement, and was told "Absolutely not". He worked his first state finals series in 2013. He wore his sleeves during the series.

There is no where in the rule book that says the pitcher has to throw a a straight baseball over home plate. There are multiple rules stating that the pitcher can not deceive the runner. There are multiple rules stating HOW a pitcher may not attempt to deceive a runner. Deception, in and of itself is no illegal. If it were, the hidden ball trick would be illegal, regardless of where F1 positioned himself.

I have felt better about it since the retrofit. Several hot shots to the CP, and never felt a thing. Pete Jr wouldn't even try mine, because he said it "looks too thin". He wears a platinum, as well.

I've been rocking mine for over a year now. I love it. It is more comfortable than the factory Platinum padding.

I have been to CDP twice, and I enjoyed it, both times. I made some friendships that will likely last until death ends them, and these guys are scattered across the country. I worked with guys that I would work ANY game with, anywhere, but I also worked with guys who made me cringe just watching them. Poor mechanics, attention whores, suspender-wearing idiots, you name it, and I saw it. The food sucks, the kids are great, the fans are seemingly non-existent, and there's a lot of ball to work. Pete Junior and I went together the last time I went. That was the BEST part.

Better be looking forward to working with some awful umpires, as well.

That's exactly what I did, Kyle. I found some that were 12x15. They were less than $7.00 for three, and free shipping. We shall see how well they work out for me.

I saw those, but I was thinking that 24x13 seemed a little large.

Does anyone still sell these ? I'd like to have a couple, but I have not been able to locate any on any supplier's sites. Suggestions ?

Like the idea. Unfortunately, barring an SEC policy-shift, it doesn't even seem remotely possible. SEC will never agree to a format where one of their teams could potentially have to play a playoff game in the North during December/January. The current status quo for them is great. Their teams barely have to travel because four of the Big Six bowls are located in the conference's footprint, which in turn means a heavy fan advantage. And they don't have to contend with any weather issues because four of the six bowls are played in domes and the other two are played in near perfect weather in Miami and Pasadena. Can't have any of those teams play in the big, bad North. No, no, no. They would have problems getting their fans up here and the players and coaches would be concerned about playing in tough weather conditions. I don't blame them. I'd probably feel the same way if my team was from the South. Just reality. I don't see any B1G teams clamoring to play in the heat and humidity of the South in August or September, either...

As a life-long Alabama fan, win or lose, I hear a lot of people talking about bandwagon Alabama fans. How do so many of you, as non-Alabama fans know so much about these people, and I don't ?

1: Find an eager young umpire to mentor. 2: Come up with a firm plan for recruiting new umpires into our HS assc. We are losing a lot of our availability to college games, because we have trained our guys well enough that college associations are steadily increasing some of their schedules. 3: Update our Association Constitution and Rules of Conduct, in conjunction with our board. 4: Spend more time evaluating our crews. 5: Work games, be consistent, and have fun doing so.

I'm not sure asking what he meant by the remark is the correct approach, personally. He could answer in a manner that might get someone's dander up, and things go downhill from that point. Better to go with Blue3211's approach. Much more high-road. JMO.

I'm pretty sure that I'm the only Bama fan involved in this discussion, and I couldn't disagree more. If he played for my team, I would expect better of him, as I do the players on said team. The kid has an awesome amount of talent, but trouble seems to follow him, like a QB that once played for Texas aTm. And Jocko, you know me very well. I am a black and white guy, with very little gray area. My issue here isn't the "who", but the "what". You do not put your hands on an official, on this much, you and I agree, as well as the fact that he should have been flagged for it. And as far as "beat them" goes, it is setting up for my team to have a chance to do just that. We shall see.

As much as I hate to say it, Jocko will defend this idiot to his last breath. He coached the jackass when he was a kid. I had him at least four times in HS, and never had any issues with him. But he has done everything in his power to flaunt his misbehavior, and his coach and university continue to enable him.

What about stiffness? I've never had a balaclava stiffen up on me.

You previously asserted that you had no concussion. How could you be "re-concussed" if that is the situation ?

I don't call time for a fielder to throw the ball back to his pitcher, either.

Therein lies the problem with head/brain injuries. After one, they seem easier to get. And they are also easier to get shortly after having one. I had a concussion four years ago, after getting hit in the mask with a bat, during an adult game. The neurologist I was sent to told me that another one as severe as the one I had could prevent me from even caring for myself any longer. He then gave me six weeks off the field, with no running of any sort allowed.
