I’m looking for a good low profile chest protector with SMALL shoulder pads. I’m about 5’6, 160 with an athletic build. I currently wear the Champion Body Armor, which is a good fit, but the shoulder pads are too big. I’ve tried the Wilson Gold, but the shoulder pads still seem too big. Maybe I’m trippin’, but I think I look like a linebacker. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. Today I will be asking you the question "What do you want to see in the future when it comes to umpire chest protector padding?". I would love to hear your guises response. A example: "I think padding that is breathable, and more lightweight and thin would be a better product, compared to (filll in the blank). Or if a new padding was created, you shoudl add (fill in the blank). Thanks everyone! Happy Umpiring! Merry Christmas! Enjoy!

I'm looking to buy a OutWest Officials chest protector harness in new condition. PM if you have one and are willing to sell it. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I have been using a West Vest Gold for the past couple of seasons and while the protection has been phenomenal, the whole thing feels bulky and does leave my lower ribs (it is the largest sized of the three sizes Wilson offers) and abdomen exposed. With that in mind, I'm looking at getting a Force 3 protector after reading some of the smaller reviews in places like ump-attire, but was looking to see if anyone had anymore feedback that was a bit more in-depth. Primarily using it for varsity level high school ball Any help/feedback would be appreciated greatly

Does anyone have experience with this CP? I was doing some research for a new CP yesterday and came across a new web site, allamericansportsshop.net. Is this brand the same as Champion? I assume it is but with a new logo. I have never seen this model before. I may have just overlooked it. This looks like a much better CP than they have made in the past. Looks very solid. I would like to see what the harness looks also. I was about just about set on going with the Schutt XV HDX until I saw this. They are the same price, but this looks a like it would fit the body a little better. Any suggestions?

The Schutt XV Umpire Chest Protector is an advanced piece of protective gear for baseball umpires. For nearly a century, Schutt Sports has been committed to developing the most advanced protective gear in the game for players. Using the same technology, their umpire protective gear empowers umpires to focus and perform at the top of THEIR game! Features: Ventilation holes: 10mm ventilation holes maximize air circulation and the evaporation of excess moisture. Greater impact absorption and durability: Utilizing impact absorption technology from their most popular line of football shoulder pads, the XV chest protector is made of high density EVA foam for greater impact absorption and durability. Moisture and heat management system: The moisture and heat management system of this umpire chest protector allows airflow into and away from the body, allowing the skin to dry and the body to cool itself. Superior protection: Features caps to cover exposed gaps in the shoulder area, wider chest plate and a padded Y-back give you maximum coverage and extra protection. The design of this chest protector is form fitting. This chest protector also has a 4” removable extension which provides additional coverage for the stomach area and a t-hook attachment for a secure fit. One size fits most (Measures 13" from top of neck pad to bottom of chest plate. Shown with 4" pad extension, included.) Weight: Approximately 3 lbs

I just got a new all american CP in 13. Has anyone had an issue with the wings feeling like they are jabbing you in the armpit?

I just got my Doug (“treat yoself” birthday present....with some help) in 13”. However, I can’t seem to get the shoulder pads over, ironically, my shoulders; they dry looking forward and it looks bulky with the majestic(Sz M) on. Any tips??? Thanks!

Hi all! I have this 1st gen WV to trade. Besides a small hole on the top-left padding and a loose piece of plastic where one of the T-hooks attaches to,the CP is in great condition. It’s a 13-incher. NOTE: T-Hooks are rusty. Pictures won’t upload. For pictures and/or offers, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

It seems my modifications to the Schutt XV chest protector have popularized a trend, and inspired several others to join in. I now have 4 CP's here that I'll be making a variety of modifications to so as to extend and improve their usefulness. Schutt XV – This will be using a ULFH from @Razzer (which I've taken to nicknaming RayFlex or, in this case StingRay) in the 3-strap variant. Instead of utilizing the existing yoke – as we did with @D62 blue http://umpire-empire.com/index.php?/topic/65283-ump-life-delta-flex-style-harness/&do=findComment&comment=303927 – I got my hands on a few of these yoke-point parts, and we'll be using one of them instead. Douglas WestVest – This will be using either a DeltaFlex or a Force3 NRH. The wearer has a slim body frame, so I might go with a DeltaFlex, but the NRH might be the better route with its longer straps and less cost. This has also been cleaned (needed it), received new hardware (black T-hooks, nylon buckles and tri-glides instead of corroded metal), and some rivets are being replaced with aluminum Chicago screws. Honig's K-1 CP – A new harness will be a massive improvement, and will be getting one of the three Flex-style harnesses, depending on cost, of course. It will also see its shoulder plates bent and shaped to arch much truer and more conforming. The primary task will be determine a means of fastening the straps to the harness; the current method uses not much more than velcro and is annoying and ineffective. Schutt AiR Flex I – Instead of using the TPU-EVA foam bricks the XV relies on, the AiR Flex uses Brock Beads (which I'll explain during my rebuild of the unit). This aside, the two are are nearly the same, using virtually the same parts. I would truthfully take an XV into any level of baseball, but the thinner AiR Flex might give me pause at the adult-level stuff. That's not to say that it's still not a viable CP, as I've witnessed umpires do adult-level ball with softshells and Davishields. On the AiR Flex, we'll be cutting away the yoke and employing a 4-strap Flex harness once again. I'll also be repositioning the ailettes from "on top" the shoulder – where they bely their football pad origins – down to somewhere more forward. If I had my druthers, I would actually try to put together a closet/garage service on refitting CP pads ala what Team Wendy's offered. I'll update this thread as work progresses!

So I switched from my beloved Schutt XV to the All Star System 7, for various reasons. And as usual when we have a new CP, I was eagerly anticipating a 'good shot' off of it, which I got Monday. Coaches and Catcher estimate 85-87 mph (it's where this kid normally sits) four seamer, barely knicked the bat and hit me hard, directly on the right clavicle. Only felt that something impacted the CP, sounded like a shot gun went off, but didn't feel ANYTHING underneath. I was impressed. I bought it for the clavicle protection, and it didn't disappoint! Catcher was sure I should be hurt, he asked me twice, but I literally didn't feel anything.
