  1. Does anyone have experience with this CP? I was doing some research for a new CP yesterday and came across a new web site, allamericansportsshop.net. Is this brand the same as Champion? I assume it is but with a new logo. I have never seen this model before. I may have just overlooked it. This looks like a much better CP than they have made in the past. Looks very solid. I would like to see what the harness looks also. I was about just about set on going with the Schutt XV HDX until I saw this. They are the same price, but this looks a like it would fit the body a little better. Any su
  2. I just wanted to getyou all’s take on the marketplace. thanks SD
  3. It seems my modifications to the Schutt XV chest protector have popularized a trend, and inspired several others to join in. I now have 4 CP's here that I'll be making a variety of modifications to so as to extend and improve their usefulness. Schutt XV – This will be using a ULFH from @Razzer (which I've taken to nicknaming RayFlex or, in this case StingRay) in the 3-strap variant. Instead of utilizing the existing yoke – as we did with @D62 blue http://umpire-empire.com/index.php?/topic/65283-ump-life-delta-flex-style-harness/&do=findComment&comment=303927 – I got my hands on a
  4. I recently replied to a message from a fellow umpire here on U-E regarding chest protector opinions. As I re-read it, what a I divulge is applicable to a great number of chest protector questions we the membership here get. His question was in regard to a Douglas, specifically, but I can express technical opinions about any of the CP's on the market. So, let me share this here with you... I present to you this rhetorical question: why are we as an umpire community clinging to antiquated technology and practices when modern, cutting-edge opportunities are not even being fully considered
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilson-Titanium-Umpires-Mask-/281614493075?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4191882593 Wilson Titanium – Looks like it's in pretty good condition.
  6. Time marches on, and we've got some new offerings in masks for the upcoming season... Hockey -Style Masks (HSM) All-Star is still the iconic HSM producer, but several rivals have made significant improvements to their product lineups. • All-Star: Showing focused refinement, the MVP4000-UMP and MVP2500-UMP models get updated padding and (supposedly) better paint jobs. In fact, the MVP2500 "Molded" is now black through-and-through, meaning that a ding or knick isn't going to discolor the shell. The MVP4000 is now offering a titanium cage, to keep pace with Wilson (see below). The Syst
  7. I'm not fishing for replies on this posting. In fact, if we don't post much on this thread other than the occasional Discount or Sale or Promotion as they come up, and notify the rest of the community, that would be ideal and appreciated. With that said... Better Baseball is running a 15%-off Catcher's Gear Weekend, this includes traditional masks and HSM's. May apply to certain CP's and shinguards too. Sale runs 9/5/14 - 9/7/14 at www.betterbaseball.com and use the promo code: "CATCH15" when checking out.
  8. With the season winding down (at least up here in the North, where the other great slayer of baseball is awakening – football), I was struck with a musing... How would you prepare for the final game of the year? So, I'll present to you the survey question: The age/skill level is irrelevant. This is the final "game in town" in your hometown. _Everyone_ who's anyone is going to be there. It will probably be televised, too (at least on local channels... don't get ahead of yourself). As the resident Umpire and Baseball Aficionado, you have been asked by the local (VFW, Kiwanis, Key Club,
  9. Custom made Douglas 13" Chest Protector but with the extra shoulder pads for added protection. Also has the All-Stars Harness which make the protector fit like gloves. No slippage for added comfort. This is truly a Top of the Line Umpire Chest Protector. This umpire chest protector is suitable for Major League Umpires down to youth baseball.
