  1. I've been customizing umpire equipment for many years. When I saw your posting about your mod, I thought... Hey, I've been doing that for years to keep the shoulder pads tucked in. It should be "The Tony Mod". 😃 FYI... I also replaced the stock harness...which is excellent... with 2 elastic straps that I crisscross in back and fasten to the front of the CP with velcro. Adjustable, no metal clips to cut shirt, no plastic clips to break, and the best feature... unzip the straps and drop the CP without having to struggle getting my shirt over it after the game. I really like this CP and if it was the 13" version, I'd keep it. This 15" is to long for me. So I'm sticking with my Adams VX with "MadMax Mods" plus several other mods for now.
  2. I have several CPs available.... - Champion P210 (C) $40 - Champion P240 $40 - +POS Cobra $100 - Force3 V2 (cosmetic wear on edges) $125 - WV Platinum (B) $90 - AllStar 7 (CP4000-15 inch) $100 - AllStar Cobalt (all pieces come with it) $135 Shipping...about $15 each.
  3. MAUmpire Please clarify shipping. Your wording is confusing: "All prices include shipping to continental US. Happy to discount/combine shipping for multiple items." If shipping cost is INCLUDED, then discount/combine shipping makes no sense. Thanks.
  4. Still have the New Balance high-top plate shoes 9 E?
  5. Interested in the Reebok Zigs Plate shoes, 12D (all black). Still have them?
  6. I need the full address to get a shipping quote.
  7. Here are pics of my 2 CPs. The lower front panels on the Wilson and Douglas can be swapped. So can the harnesses. With the modifications to each CP, they are more form fitting and comfortable while maintaining full protection. I have the junk stock harnesses if you want them for nostalgic reasons... 😄
  8. Slippery Fish... I've been modifying umpire gear for years. While your modified CP looks good, I can see several areas that are causing your issues. First...the attachment points for the harness are not ideal, especially the lower connections that can hold the pad tight but don't attach to the plastic plates at all. If the pad design eliminated the "T-Hooks", heat forming the plastic plates to conform to your body will help snug up the lower area of the pad. Your adjustment of the harness is way too high, causing the looseness at the neck and the belly. Adjust the upper harness straps to lower the center mounting piece. Then tighten the lower strap to pull the CP tightly against your belly. Then adjust the upper straps to pull the neck area snug. To get a really form fitting Cp, heat form the shoulder/clavicle plastics and the chest and belly plastics to conform to your body. FYI...heat forming can be done with a hair dryer or industrial heat gun. I apply hand pressure to cold bend the plastic to the desired shape, then apply heat carefully until the plastic "yields" ( you'll feel the plastic resistance reduce significantly). At that point, remove the heat and hold the plastic in the desired shape until it cools enough to touch. I use a flexible ice/chill pad to speed up the cooling. It may take a time or two to get the bend exactly right, but once it is, the CP will fit like a glove...snug everywhere...and won't move around as you work your game. DM me if you'd like a more detailed description of the forming process. It's a bit of work, but the final result will be a great improvement over where you are now.
  9. Darryl ... I have a Douglas West Vest (good condition) and the first Wilson West Vest (excellent condition). They both have the velcro-ed center chest plate design. Douglas $85. Wilson $75. Shipping would be about $14. ...Tony
  10. Sorry to hear you have to retire. I hope it's not a life altering condition. I also hope you stick around on this forum. Always enjoy your knowledgeable comments.
  11. Why don't you just remove/trim the lower plastic panel and cut/sew the pad shorter? That way you could make it EXACTLY how long you want it to be. And save the hassle/cost of shipping for a trade. This adjustment would be possible with any of the 3 CPs in your photo.
  12. I have a used Champion CP210 (15") for $50 shipped and a Champion CP240 (13") for $50 shipped.
  13. @grayhawk .. I've modified/built many Cps for myself and other local umpires. My experience has been that manufacturers do not spend money on "extra fabric" unless it's important to the function of the CP. That fabric provides channels for air to flow between the CP and the body. Also, it provides impact cushioning between the firmer padding and the body. So removing it will compromise those performance attributes. Wearing the CP tight will help reduce the "slapping" against your skin, but will not address reduced airflow. Neither will be fatal flaws, but there will be an effect. My advice...try different things until you find what works for you.
  14. The "quantity left" warning is gone, but the listing is still active as of 9pm 5/28. My guess is Force3 is blowing out V3 units thru Amazon to prepare for the introduction of V4 designs. Same thoughts about the shins. A good time to get really good CP and shins at a really good price
