I prefer TWs, but find them very hard in cold weather, say less than 45 degrees. Prefer leather below 45... Also our HS primary is still Navy, with Black as a popular option, so I match colors with my uniform. First pic has my early season cold weather rigs: Old Wilson with throat chopped, painted "mild steel" (like gunmetal), Mizuno TG black, Wilson Black and Grey leathers, Gerry Davis black strap - looks good with Black Plate Coat or the Foul Weather Jacket (charcoalish) Wilson AL black, Wilson Tan leathers, Wilson TG black, WV strap black - looks good with Black Plate Coat or Black Long Sleeve Shirt Adidas Steel Silver, ALL Star LMX leathers Navy/Tan, Honigs strap Navy, Honigs TG Navy - use it with the Navy Plate Coat, Navy Foul Weather Jacket, or Navy Shirt (in warmer weather) - towards the end of the season when warm weather prevails I will swap the leather All Star pads with Tan TWs 3 1 Quote

Instead, there's a patent number printed on the frame (something Wilson does not do), that @Matt investigated and discovered is attributed to Diamond. Thus, the mask is an aluminum, by Diamond, with similar flat-bar construction as their lauded iX3s, but with a rounded chin guard instead of a squared chisel guard. This is outfitted with tan Team Wendy's, an UmpLife "Headhugger" V2 harness, and a Champro silver-smoke sun visor. 5 Quote

MadMax Posted March 14, 2022 Report Posted March 14, 2022 This is Mask #2 in my arsenal, a Wilson DynAlum: This isn't any run-of-the-mill DynaLite Aluminum. It's a V1, so it still has the rounded ear guards (instead of the angled ear guards indicative of V2). @wolfe_man supplied me this one while I was on the summer circuit, and my other DynAlum broke (bent and sheared it). After the season, I sent it off to Tony at MaskIt, hoping to get recoated in Sky Blue Metallic. However, he misread the request, and did it in Bright Aluminum, which actually is even better than the original. With the powdercoating, it doesn't fade or show the impact marks at all. This is outfitted with black Team Wendy's, an UmpLife "Headhugger" V2 harness, and a Markwort rainbow-blue sun visor. 4 Quote

That's when i got it powder coated. The only reason i sold it is because I, personally, don't love the view from it the mask itself was in great shape though. 3 Quote

That's disappointing that such an expensive mask doesn't have a more durable paint job. I love my FM4000 steel, except for the original paint job - went from a nice silver to dull grey in less than one season of use. 1 Quote

No longer the case! It's a FM4000 Hollow Steel: Yup, she's got a bit of a warble in the lower left horizontal eye slot bar where she took a wallop, but other than that, she's in great shape! And now I can use it even in the brightest of days. Lookat that visor! Why didn't I have one of these sooner??!! (Hmmm @Thunderheads? Oh right, cuz ya didn't want to make me one... ) 3 1 Quote
