I have a few different types of socks I like to wear when working the dish.  I tagged a couple of type but what are peoples preferences?

I like a PAIR of socks, not just one.

Stop, man. You're killing my sides. Ha

I found some Adidas socks at TJ Max this winter and really like them.  They come up to just below the knee and the top of the foot is a mesh material.  They breath very well and do not hold in moisture.

I try to wear clean ones.... :smachhead:

But to answer the question, I have several pair of Thorlo (think that's spelled correctly) military boot socks.  Thick and highly cushioned for long days on the field.

However, I had a recent episode with gout and tried to wear these my first game back with the affected foot still somewhat swollen and tender - excruciating pain and I could hardly move on the field.  I switched to an old pair of thin UA football socks I had the next day and that did the trick, allowed my foot to have just enough space in the shoe to take the pressure off and be somewhat comfortable, I was even able to do bases for a few games.  I just had to wash them every night so I'd have a clean pair the next day :)

My son gave me a pair of his "NIKE Elite" Basketball Socks to try...... Great socks, moisture wicking.

I bought 2 just for plate games!!

Jim Evans Force 3

and Bass Pro tree stand socks

They make socks big enough for you?  or do you just rap a big towel around your foot?

I sometimes have my tailor sew up sweat pant legs that I use for socks BUT the Bass Pro Tree stand socks run large.

I will tell you this...I will never wear anything other than the Force3's...but if they're not in your budget or just don't want to get them, then my advice is to never wear cotton.

Force 3 for all sports that I officiate. Great socks. Much thinner than the Thorlos and the Gerry Davis socks. Mine last me about 2-3 years a pair. I wear them for baseball, football, and wore them when I called Basketball.

Great socks.

I wear these for plate games, they are very comfortable and they are great for long days, they are expensive but well worth it IMHO. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BKIPW0/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I am just doing a single base I wear these, they are comfortable and feel great. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FV6VN4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3ES1CGO6Y033

I wear these for all my games, plate or bases. I like these because they are soft cottony material on the sole, but the lace portion and the calf "tube" is thinner and breathes well. I'm not a fan of the polyester type material that come with a lot of the long socks, and I don't like short calf length socks.

Luckily through my regular job I've get these "free" and get quite a few pair for each season to rotate.
