Almost every high school field that I work at has the first base umpire facing directly into the sun if it is played around the six to seven time period. I wear them and then put them on my hat afterwards. And one has the field arranged to where the catcher and umpire are looking directly into the sun when looking down the third base line. I wear them and then give them to my partner when the sun finally gets behind the mountain. WTF does your partner do with them??

So do you look up the rule references for the questions graded incorrect. Or no? If you're not, that's a bigger problem.

To me it looked like the BR saw F1 running across his path and thought that he may have to go left to avoid the collision. No way was this MC. Arms never extended and if he were truly trying to truck the pitcher, BR would have gone down as well.

I'm a little perturbed that Texas hasn't approved red yet. Does that come with the bulls-eye or do you have to have it embroidered yourself?

I agree. If it's that close that you have to justify the location then it's close enough for a strike. Disagree. A belt-high pitch 8 inches inside looks GREAT to DC sitting on his bucket. 8 inches inside hits a lot of batters.

I have a 2.0 and I'm not crazy about it. I don't care for the chin pad or the way it sits on the top of my head. Maybe it's the shape of my head, but it really just doesn't seem right. I think I'm going to buy an all-star 4000 this year (if anyone wants to trade something for one, please feel free to contact me), so I may have more input in 2014.

On more than one occasion in situations as the one you describe, I've pulled my rule book out and showed my mis-informed partner the error of his ways. Conversely, more than once my partner has put me in my place. Where was YOUR rule book?

"I am/was an umpire" is definitely worse. At least with the "I played (fill in the blank) ball", I can make my eyes REALLY big and say "WOW!"

THat's a ball that's caught by a MLB player 100 times out of 100. He saw the play and the relay, then looked to the bag, never thinking that a professional would drop that. I think there's something to the notion that this crew has been put on notice about neighborhood plays.
