I've been using Oakley Prizm (Prizm Baseball Infield) lenses and want to tell all of you that these are the real deal. They don't darken your view like some lenses and, in fact, they brighten the colors you see while also eliminating glare. I've never worn prescription glasses, but the first time I wore these on the diamond it felt like I was wearing corrective lenses. I use the Half Jacket 2.0 frame with XL sized lenses. I thought it was necessary to give credit where credit is due. If you're in the market for a new pair, I'd give these lenses a shot.

Hi all ... I've searched and found 'some' info I was looking for but not exaclty, so I wanted to post this to separate the issues. In the posts I've found, I've seen that NON prescription sunglasses are legal in all codes. Is this something that someone can cite, or, is it something that isn't written anywhere as illegal, therefore, it's allowable? Thanks ...

Yes, I know it's about the 2,394th thread on sunglasses, but just thought I'd recommend these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007ZCQNC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0007ZCQNC&linkCode=as2&tag=hubpages05ec-20 They're incredibly light and comfortable, full protection, safety rated in case a rock or something flies up, and they're just over $5!!!! I was skeptical at first but they're outstanding. By far the lightest value sunglasses I've found. The vision is crystal clear, and if you scratch them? So freakin' what, just buy another pair. Not that they're easy to scratch - I had my first for over a year before dropping them yesterday and stepping on them. And all that happened after washing the dust off was a couple tiny scratches at the bottom, not even in my field of view. Even if you burn through 2 pairs a year, it would take over a decade just to reach the cost of an entry-level set of Oakleys. I thought those Maxx HD glasses you see around for $20 or so were a good value, but these are more comfortable and a third/quarter the price. Amazon has other colors and combos for $5 to $7, depending on what you want. The only downside is that they tend to run a bit big. I don't have a huge head and they're fine for me, but if your head runs more to the dainty or really narrow side, these might be a bit too wide for you. For those of us who aren't members of the Lollipop Guild , they're just fine.

So on Thursday, the NJ governing body -NJSIAA - made the brilliant decision that players and umpires could not wear sunglasses on the brim of their caps while on the field. Another interesting way to inject umpires and rule enforcement into situations that make us seem petty and OOO's. I understand that the many eye injuries that have occured from glasses flying off the players' hat brims while double plays are broken up and when catchers get freight trained are numerous enough to spur the action, but now I can no longer wear my glasses anywhere but on my face. I suppose this might impact the speed of the game, as players will now need to request time to get their glasses from the dugout, but if I refuse their request, and they get drilled with the ball, the next time they will remember to not only bring their glasses onto the field, but they will wear them only in the manner in which the manufacturer(s) expect.
