  1. Is that a lawn chair in your living room?
  2. Give BR 1st. Move R1 to 2d.
  3. My suggestion would be - go hang out with Minnz in his mom's basement.
  4. But what we do not get is calling these guys out and not giving examples of oneself being called out. That is what kind of makes this annoying. Could we see video examples of every horrible call that a poster complaining about others has made. Just admitting we missed a call does not even the score of personally calling these guys out, unless we are being fair and hanging out all our dirty laundry with videos of all our horrendous calls over the years. Maybe we have some out there who have been blessed and only missed a call that a microscope could catch. It is not fair to just call out those who have the videos on them without calling out those who are fortunate enough to not have the video microscope on them. Statistics will say we are all making some of the best calls that are shown on MLB video and we are all making some of the most horrendous calls. To be consistent, the post should have started with how many times the poster themselves should have been called out for their own personal bad misses and what was done to them in being called out in their Leagues by the Commissioner's, supervisor's, State Associations for their missed call. Then we can go on to what the poster thinks should have happened to the ones in other Leagues. Remember, everyone on this board is a professional umpire if they are receiving compensation. The way it sounds (not saying that is the way it is, just the way it sounds) in the posts is like Minnz is the greatest thing since sliced bread and has never made more than a microscopic miss that no one but Minnz could detect. Sorry if it kind of rubs us less than perfect human beings the wrong way. We can all take it, but we want those pointing fingers to give examples of themselves making horrible calls on video for everyone here to see along with others that are missing calls. We also want to see where the poster's are being called out in their Leagues by the Commissioner's, supervisor's, State Associations, and being tossed when they miss a call, and always showing where they rescind the coaches (who just called you vile names) ejection upon proof of the missed call. Just wanting things to be consistent across the board for all levels, not just some levels. Sorry, it is hard to not make the above not sound personal (and I want to personally apologize to you if that is what I just did, but I do not communicate well and it was the best I could do), but it is just a poor attempt to explain what IMHO should be done if we are constantly going to be beating up on guys that are getting video'd versus guys who are not being video'd. I am just asking for a level playing field, but not trying to be personal. I like trying to learn the best I can both from positive and not so positive assessments. It seems like everyone is under a microscope these days not matter what, and I personally like to use the video's of what look to be good calls as well as those that look not so good as a learning tool, rather than a chance to overly praise or overly blast, especially the overly blast the person in the video, when I do not see someone following me around with a camera to film everything I do. If you don't want to say it, I will. Screw Minnz. Let him party over at UEFL.
  5. I totally 100% disagree in this case. Whoever made that picture was attacking the integrity and character of Jim Joyce. I can understand poking at an umpire who splits his pants, has a funny 3rd strike call, or out call, and even an innocent slip and fall when no one gets hurt, but I will NEVER support or find funny anything that attacks the character, integrity, or honor of an umpire, and in this case, it was Mr. Jim Joyce. I don't think that Jim's integrity EVER came into question about why he blew the call. He just blew it. If fact, I think his high level of integrity was shown to the world in the way he owned the call in public and admitted he just blew it. You missed the whole point. An angry fan who thinks Jim Joyce is the worst umpire in the world made that sign. Plenty of people, despite the intense character Jim Joyce showed in that whole affair, want him fired, tarred, feathered, and even killed (Yes, he received death threats). Why would any umpire or person who has an understanding of human nature and forgiveness think that is funny? Jim's integrity certainly came into question concerning the Galarraga perfect game. How could you even think it didn't? It was only the stunning and totally professional actions of Jim Joyce that shut up those who excoriated him, and judged his character, because they had nothing to say in rebuttal. There's NO LAUGHING IN BASEBALL!
  6. Why? Because in an instant U1 had worst angle of the four of them. Why ask for help? Because another umpire might have been 100% sure that he missed seeing a tag. The days of one play/one call are gone. This is the kind of play that I don't have a problem asking for help on. "Here's the deal coach, I've got no tag. I'll ask my partner(s) what they saw, but unless they convince me otherwise, we're sticking with safe/no tag." The worst angle of the four? I know we preach angle over distance, but somehow I don't think U3 had a better view of that play. That's just nonsense. And further - "here's the deal, skip, I didn't see (fill in the blank), I'll ask my partners" is a seemingly becoming the norm. I'm getting sick of it. There are 4 umpires on that field. If you can't handle your own base, how the heck are you supposed to cover another one? I never said U3 had a better view, just a better angle. Because of the way the play finished, and his angle, U1 was the only umpire that couldn't have possibly seen a tag. Asking your partner is not the norm...that is the nonsense. When an umpire sees his play and makes his judgement call, he sticks with it right or wrong, that is the norm. But when an umpire gets straight-lined/blocked, it doesn't hurt anything, except perhaps the old guard's sensibilities, to ask, if asked. It is rare, nowhere near a norm. Like any business, workers have to adapt or else others will replace them. Baseball is no different. If an umpire is so inflexible as to refuse to ever consider getting help when straight-lined, their advancement will be limited. 1 - better view/better angle? Seriously? You say tomato, I say tomahto 2 - If a single A umpire continually goes to his partner for help, I guaranty his "advancement will be limited"

  8. Why would he go for help on this? Own the damn call.
  9. Glad you're back on the field Jocko. Had a U18 DH Saturday and a single on Sunday. Bad, bad supposedly good baseball all around. 2 2 and a half hour games Sat. and a 3 and half hour 11 inning gibbeting Sunday. I've blocked off the rest of fall.
  10. Watch out for Jocko coming in HOT on this one.
  11. Is that 1 or 2 man? Low regardless.
  12. Metal 4-3-3 w/ inning. I'd like a voice activated indicator. I think it could be done.
  13. I think UEFL has a review board that rules on these types of questions. That may be the "3/4" reference in his post - 3 out of 4 on the review board ruled that one a correct call. Pretty sure he meant 3 out of 4 calls were correct.
  14. It's if the bat head gets out in front of the plate! Wait... No - it's the wrists - that's it! Uh.....
  15. The "location" of the play does not negate the FPSR. It can be called at any base, including home, as long as it's a force play.
  16. After the 3rd out they have to walk all the way out to deep right to talk to me.
  17. There's no laughing in baseball!
  18. How about that effing catcher whining about it? He KNEW it was foul.
  19. Dogs... Meh
  20. Did they sent the runner back to 2d?
  21. Clearly, the incompetence of the replay official will be exposed. It will be funny to see many calls not getting reversed. I have always contended the pros get more right than not, they actually pretty dang few. However, when they miss, they miss big. I'm an O's fan, I can tell you a story of a boy in the outfield. But the fact is replay is not going to the panacea they believe it to be. This play is a prime example of one that looks odd but is called exactly correct. @FlaUmp22, a baseball move? I guess the myth list needs an addition. And.................. Yet another call not reversed on replay!
  22. Jesus Christ! You want a borderline strike? Throw the previous couple near the plate.
  23. If only he got them all right like Jocko.......
  24. I think he started to make the safe call on the runner coming into the bag then thought better of it to call R3 out coming back first.
