To my surprise my Douglas came in today. I even get to use it since I have the Plate today at a JV Game.

What was the grand total for the cp, delta flex harnass, and the added shoulder protection, plus shipping?

How did the new CP feel, Rolo? I'm ordering mine tomorrow! What size did you go with?

How did the new CP feel, Rolo? I'm ordering mine tomorrow! What size did you go with?

Felt great. Didn't take any shots.

Only problem it was ribbing my neck because it kept sliding. My own fault . I didn't have the straps adjusted properly. It will be fine once I get the delta.

Rolando,

How did you get this so fast? When did you order it, and when did you know?!?! :D

I ordered it as soon as I saw it posted here on U-E. They said they would send me a tracking number when it shipped. I never got the tracking number. So I was expecting it maybe next week at the earliest.

I was very surprised when the secretary walked in my office with the box!

I have the plate again tomorrow at a HS game so I will try to adjust the straps better.

Well, I hope you're lucky enough to get drilled in that game. It's a bummer when you get new gear and you have to wait to get drilled.

Me too!!! Right in the Gap area!

Agreed. The strap on the Douglas is quite inferior to the Delta flex. Not only is it easier to put on, but the Delta flex just hugs the whole CP to your body so much more effectively. There really is no comparison.

I ordered mine yesterday. He said they were doing inventory and it may be the end of next week or mine. I ordered the extra shoulder plate and the 15" length. I can't wait, I have (4) 9-10, (2) 11-12 Dixie and 2 HS games next week. I hope to have it for those Thursday HS games. I'm so excited..... I LOVE getting new umpire stuff. I was given the nick name "Umpinator" by a parent a couple years ago and I will feel like it with my new Douglas CP, new Wilson CG, new mask setup and my Reebok plate shoes.

I'll say it again: At 80s and below, it's just fine. At 90 and above, if it finds that gap, you may be screwed. I could barely drive, brush my teeth, call a strike, hug my daughter, walk my dog... for like, three weeks. I wasn't sleeping comfortably for a few months. And at the time it happened, it hurt so bad, I almost hurled in the home plate circle. I had a bruise that looked like a plum. I still have a bump on my shoulder bone, and it happened in 2009. I began using only the Gold for high velocity ball, with an extra pad taped on the inside that I made out of two McDavid hexpad arm wraps. (Until the initial period was over I dreaded getting any kind of shot there, and I didn't.) I slowly went back to the Douglas for most MSBL and virtually all high school. For most of the summer wood bat and the fall and winter D-I intrasquads, I go with the Gold, period. I don't care how hot and bulky it is.

I suppose the message is, when a modicum of protection is required, the Douglas is the lightest, sleekest, most comfortable hard shell protector there is. I feel lucky to have a couple of them--especially at the prices I paid for them. But if over-standard protection is required, you might want to have a bigger, better rig than the sleek, comfortable Douglas, because sleekness and comfort lose their importance when you're sporting a plum on your shoulder bone.

Bought my Platinum in 2010; haven't been hit yet.

Bought an All-Star Titanium from an umpire here late last year; got dinged with it on the first game I wore it.

You never can tell.

Definitely get the Delta Flex harness. I fitted one to my Douglas on Saturday and wore it yesterday. A huge improvement over the Douglas harness - it looks like the Douglas harness could be improved by the addition of 2 inexpensive 'strap holder' loops down by the release buckles - mine always slipped there and even with the use of a lot of athletic tape it tended to slip, especially in hot weather. This usually caused the CP to slide around my neck during a game and cause irritation. Everything stayed put yesterday and I was very comfortable.

About 230 but considering I sold my oldWV Douglas for 281 I didn't mind paying. In reality I would have paid it anyway!

A'men, "Made in the USA!"

Now if I can just figure out what is wrong with my card so I can get mine shipped. It's built and ready for shipping.....
