For whiskey aficionados: what's your post-game pour?

Mixed I like Old Forester 100.

Sipper I'd go scotch Lagavulin 16.

Still looking for a bourbon sipper.

Makers for a sipper, large cube ...

I love an ice cold beer after a game w/ a bourbon chaser.  When I do that, I'll just use Jim Beam.

If you want a great sipper (not a bourbon) but ... look at Pendelton 1910, it's a Canadian Rye, and boy is it nice!

This past summer my go to was WT101  in a glencairn

maybe 2 if I was really sore.

love the molasses and brown sugar smell

But yeah Lagavulin 16 is by far my favorite  I just cant do the 100$ a bottle and drink it like that anymore though.

not when I can get a handle of WT101 for like 30$

My personal favorite (though I've never really associated whiskey with "post-game"): https://woodencork.com/products/mb-roland-dark-fired-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey

As @ArchAngel72said, WT101 is a pretty decent bourbon for the price.

...or a good Scotch. I've got a good Glenmorangie on my shelf right now, too.

I did have a kick there where I fell in love with Laphroaig

Talisker was good too

Highland Park and Arrrrrrrdbeg

Thats where I started when I was young single and had some spare change..

Now not so much  I will buy a bottle of WT101 to keep on hand and I am slowly killing the stock down to probably a handful of bottles that I will keep replenishing

Nice library! I do like the Talisker DE and Glenmorangie. But I think my next purchase will be either WT101 (so many recommendations) or OF 1920. Just exploring. Game fees gotta go somewhere...

Post-game? Why wait?

I don't drink bourbon, but a former D-I guy in the SEC swears by this stuff:

woodford-on-counter.jpg?fit=1200,1200&ss

My boss bought me one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago. (Be jealous of me).

Post-game, I'm much more likely to replenish my electrolytes with a good porter or stout, though.

OF 1910 is doubled oaked.  Think Makers 46 and is very good.

Okay I'm late to the show on this thread but it caught my attention...

Now I'm not a whisky/ bourbon snob I know what I like, but don't have enough experience and knowledge to tell high brow stuff from swill.

Last year a friend turned me on to Buffalo Trace, and I really enjoy it.

I'm no snob either, but IMHO you could do a lot worse than Buffalo Trace. Actually, I really want to visit their distillery. I've heard they have the best tours of any of them.

Buffalo Trace

That's the flagship product of a prominent distillery that also produces some pretty high brow stuff (van Winkle, Col EH Taylor, among others). Your friend is a good one!

Anything Weller. I love wheated bourbons. For $23, a 750ml of Weller Special Reserve simply can't be beat. If you can ever get your hands on a bottle of Weller 12 Year, do it. It's essentially Pappy (same distillery, same mashbill, same rickhouse), without the label and 1000% markup. But you can't find it at retail. If you do, please tell me where! LOL

Four Roses Single Barrel or Small Batch Select are fantastic. Hell, the regular Small Batch is excellent, too.

All of those (except Weller 12) can be had at your local liquor store. The Weller Special Reserve might be a bit hit or miss, but Four Roses is always around, at least near me. And you can't go wrong with Woodford, either.

Harder to find: Eagle Rare. Michter's Small Batch or the 10 year are both amazing.

Now, if you want to get outside bourbon, RedBreast Irish Whisky 12 Year is utterly fantastic, generally available, and not terribly expensive - about $65 for 750ml.

I'll stop now..... lol

Did the Bourbon Trail in October of 2020.  Hit 14 distilleries in 4 days!!  We went with a another couple and my wife was the DD.  It was a lot of fun.

I drink very little, so I can afford the good stuff:  Dalmore 18 years.

I'm quoting myself because I forgot to mention that in my world, it's "whisky," not "whiskey."  Scotch whisky is spelled that way :)
