@Ump242 how much did the All Star TI set you back?

So what did you do?  Did you send it back to Wilson for a replacement or just keep it, sell it? Etc...

I trashed it because I use force 3 now. I am of the opinion that since it was used for a couple years that it was past warranty and a manufacturer would say “it did it’s job by stopping the ball”. If it were firm game, probably a different story.

Mine was after 4 months of ownership and I bought it from Mike, so... I'm getting it fixed going to ask Tony to strengthen the welds and then powder coating it.

Also planning on designing my own one day, as I plan to learn welding soon enough

I think the black and blue might be plus pos(????)

The other is the Allstar ti

It is. I can’t remember +POS’s exact designation of it, but BB12 jumps to the front of my memory stack. It was a steel frame, with a chisel-point XCG (so as to easily mount a TG), and oddly, arrowhead ear struts positioned below the centerline. Why? :question1: One likely reason is that the harness strap would thereby be positioned lower (deeper) on the frame.

Royal blue pads on a black frame would be quite the complement to a Carlucci CP. :notworthy:

The All-Star is a FM25Ti Mk II. This is the only double-wire titanium mask on the market (all others are single-wire), and aside from the Nike “Icon” Ti, was the mask to have in the Majors because of how light it was. It never really showed up in umpire circles (everyone wanted the super-sexy, super-hard-to-get Icon), and only fell out of favor in catcher circles because All-Star proved, with science and demonstrations, that the FM4000 -series (both steel and magnesium) were better suited to geometric deflection than their FM25Ti.

This was sold to me by a member here whom said he was "retiring" it had some used TW pads on it that I found stiff even when warmed up.

Well he was recently looking for one so today I am sending it back to him with some silver AS LUC pads

I essentially leased it from him for a season. Now I am sending it back at no charge to him as he is such an awesome guy and done so well with sales here I feel I do not want anything from him other than to use it and call them well.

"Try not to suck!" @wolfe_man

It’s bad enough when he runs the retirement scam on his wife, but now you are falling for it, too?

I fell into the trap for a time as well. But amateur umpires are like pro boxers and wrestlers... do we ever REALLY retire?

I've been feeling left out, here are my main gamers for this year.

1. Nike with Belgard's (black & grey microfiber) with Mizuno harness

2. Adidas chopped with Belgard's (black & grey microfiber) and Mizuno harness and SG shovel throat guard

3. Adidas with Belgard's (navy for HS) and Belgard harness

4. Adidas with AS grey pads and Adidas harness and SG shovel throat guard

5. old Belgard frame that is surprisingly light for vinyl dipped...

I'm thinking of sending a couple of these off to Tony for a strip & new coat

That flat black looks awesome - did Tony at Mask-It do it?  Never mind - I see you answered that above (for some reason I can't delete this post).

I wonder if Tony does his in a matte black vs a flat black (and is their a difference?)

Now a question... I wonder if I could do the same to a Force3 pad? I HATE leather pads! So maybe going somewhere to get it covered might work.

Maybe,  but do you mean the outside look or you mean the cell against your skin?

I don't care about the forward facing look in this regards. I don't like the feel of leather against my face.

Had my new (to me) AS Mag prettied up by Tony--he did a fantastic job as always!

I know the chin pad velcro is jacked up--I was too excited to get the picture taken!

We need to get this off to Stan Jurga & All-Star. This would be a welcome addition to the catalog.

Light years better than a “Special Edition” Wilson DynaLite… steel (not even aluminum)… painted sky blue.

Cheap buggers.

@834k3r . . . love the added touch of the matching Mizuno logo.  That TP just looks so damned right on the ASM.

Oh yeah... I didn't even notice it at first glance. VERY NICE!
