Got to battle test my Enduro (finally!) today. It was fantastic. I didn’t feel like I was limited in any movements—like I have at times with my Cobalt. I wore it with the side straps snug, and it didn’t move at all.

@DerekGDS, I may need to return it though. I didn’t get hit at all.

In all seriousness, this is a fantastic CP and will be my gamer, relegating my Cobalt to an emergency backup or loaner.

How about battle testing a rule book?

Ridiculous. Is your carryover & snark one-size-fits-all, or sized specifically to your hat-size?

You don't think that's good advice for a guy that posted this and didn't acknowledge any of the corrective posts in that thread. I do admit to getting snarky with guys that shoot from the hip.

"R2; other runners don't matter. F1 disengages legally and throws to F4, who's still at least 8 feet from 2B. I had never seen this until this year, but now I've seen it three times in 2 weeks.

How many of you are balking this under 6.02(a)(4) or related NFHS rule (too lazy to look it up right now)?"

I didn’t say I balked it. None of them were even in my games. I submitted it as a point of conversation. Thanks for your support.

I get it, Jim, you’re thorough. But why not leave any relevant commentary in the topic from whence it came? Why the sniping on Rules commentary on an Equipment forum / topic?

Ya don’t see me going off on one of my anti-Wilson diatribes on the Rules or Situations topic groups.

He started the conversation and never came back. I thought I'd give him a hint when he showed up here.

Back on topic, I've worn my D30 for a couple games and really liking it. I did notice that when wearing my plate coat (blazer) over it, the shoulders bunch up around the pads. Anyone else experienced this and have a solution to recommend?

Can anyone compare the Enduro to the All Star CPU4000 (S7)? I have an brand new/unused one as a backup to my primary S7, and I'm wondering if I should sell it and get the Enduro. I'm VERY happy with the S7.

The guy to ask about this is @cgroom. While I’ve worn my WakeWear Plate Coat over my DX Enduro several times now, I cheat, out of habit, and wear a charcoal-grey compression shirt over the DX Enduro. This keeps the plate coat from snagging on any of the plates or anchor tabs.
@cgroom, on the other hand, wears his “showman-style”, with the Davis D-home logo showing. Big time marketing agent for the DX family of CPs.

Pardon the hotel mirror selfie. Ugly model aside, how great does this look under a plate coat?!

I love that it's a matte finish and that the logo isn't a harsh contrast in color (like two gallons of yellow paint on a shiny black plastic).

For the summer I took the neck pad out because I'm used to wearing my original Douglas pushed up high. I'm not sure if I'll keep it that way or not.

Honestly I haven't had any issues with my Fechheimer snagging on the front of the CP nor have I had any problems with the shoulders. I'll have to try to recreate shoulder problems in the locker room the next time I get an opportunity to wear it.

One of my front clips came undone during a game. The first time I thought I just forgot to fasten it...but then it happened again.

Anyone had this happen?

I haven't had any issues. I setup my UL harness straps fairly tight so the clips are held in place from the tension.

Yeah, same here...that's why I was so surprised. I'll keep monitoring.

The first batch of harnesses didn't include tri-glides to lock the straps in place. Adding them should completely resolve the issues if they're coming loose.

👆🏼 exactly what Derek said.

If your flank harness straps do not have tri-glides on them, you need tri-glides. One per flank strap. 1-1/2” width tri-glides, available at most camping stores, hardware stores, or hobby & craft stores.

Remove the G-hook from the strap. Then run a triglide onto the strap, sliding it closer to the origin than the end. Next, (re)place the G-hook on the strap, running the excess strap back towards the origin, and run it thru the triglide (again). Adjust to size, and locked in place.

Those of us with late-version UmpLife harnesses got spoiled – @Razzer built triglides into the harness itself.

I was a Champion of the S7 CPU4K since the day it came out (hoping @MadMax appreciated that) and have gone through sets of pads on it. I LOVED the way it protected me. However, it is big, bulky, and I looked like Robocop in it. Even Ms. ThighPro said, "I had to see where you were on the field, because I saw the plate guy and thought 'there is no way that is Tim' ".

Enter the GD D30. GOOD LAWD, Slim and protective. Love the way I look in it. Have taken shots, feel is comparable to the S7 (noticed, not felt).

I recommend the D30 over the S7.

I'm so tempted, but with a full season in my DIY slimmed down S7 under my belt (with many comments from partners on how low profile it looks), I'm having a hard time parting with $300. But the pull of that "new gear smell" is strong, indeed.

Hey, I get it! Until @DerekGDS and @wolfe_man roped me into their discussions, I was resolved that my 2015 Schutt MaXV – using authentic D3O and thoroughly modified by yours truly – was going to be the CP to use for the rest of my career. Sure, I tried others… Douglas, All-Star System-7 CPU4K, Force3 ≠, Champion P200, +POS ZRO-G, even the All-Star Cobalt… but nothing could beat the lightweight-ness and ventilation of the Schutt. I’m not a fragile guy, but I do not enjoy lugging around 10 lbs. of my own sweat!

But, when Derek disclosed that he had brokered a contract with D3O, and was going to equip it to a carapace planform that he and Wolfe had arrived at, based on all the “good parts” of classic CPs like the Riddell Power, the Schutt, the P200, and even the Cobalt and +POS Cobra, I was mightily intrigued. Derek and I figured out how to implement G-hooks. The rough prototype showed promise, but I maintained that the only true test is if/when we could actually wear one, and (potentially) face a pitch.

Within moments of putting on that alpha unit Derek handed me, I was sold. Utterly and completely sold. I’ll never use my Schutt again; the difference is that tangible. Sure, the DX family is likely to broaden and improve, and the Enduro itself will evolve, but there isn’t another domestic* brand of CP better.

The All-Star CPU4K (S7) was an absolute tank. Best coverage and protection on a modern CP. However, it’s telling that it wasn’t supplemented or complemented by the follow-on Cobalt, but instead supplanted. 🤔

* - I have to concede, the craftsmanship on Belgards and Mizunos is exceptional.

Interesting. Ive never felt this with the cobalt. Maybe because I removed the lower plate and the shoulder gap plate?  The Cobalt is the reason I haven’t jumped on one of these. It’s hard to justify the cost, when my Cobalt is on its second full season and I have zero complaints with it. I’ll hold off for now while I anxiously await the new mask pads.

All that^.

My only complaint with the Cobalt is it does feel "puffy" -- not bulky.  I've wondered if I could pull the D30 out of my Schutt and replace the padding on the Cobalt . . . I'm not brave enough to start tearing them apart on my own though.

If I was looking for a new one, I would bite the bullet and spend the money.  But with a perfectly good (albeit needing mods) Schutt and a relatively new and likeable Cobalt, I can't justify the purchase yet.

Yes, I have to check mine periodically and push the hooks back down through the loop. I appreciate the updates with adding the tri-glide, i'll give that a whirl and see how it goes.

Could be. I kept my cobalt pretty stock (aside from removing the center (sternum?) pad.
