Getting back into it, but the products have changed so much

It’s pretty love or hate fit. Not for everyone, but a regular fit is coming. -
Getting back into it, but the products have changed so much

We actually have three different pant series now. The 94X is what most people reference as it is our oldest line and does use a heavier fabric. Our two newer lines, are both lighter. The Core Lightweight will probably overtake the 94X in popularity next year and is about 30% lighter then the 94X and slightly lighter then the Smitty Poly/Spandex line. This line doesn't use Spandex in the primary fabric like the rest of our line, but does have a Lycra crotch gusset for good flex in the right spots. The BFX Pro has been discussed here before and that is the most expensive pant in our line up, again newer models have the Lycra crotch gusset, its weight is between the 94X and Core Lightweight and has the best colorfastness to UV exposure. The 94X and BFX Pro are both getting refreshes in terms of cuts, features, etc. for 2027 as well. -
At this time I do not have a good idea but likely sometime between January - February '27. Similar timing to the previous.

Yes, but it will be available in another limited color scheme. This is just a render, colors may be slightly different and this is still subject to change.

Plate coat: Out West vs. Flying Cross
DerekGDS replied to TheRockawayKid's topic in Umpire Equipment
Fechheimer and it isn't even close but as MadMax said, if you want to make you're own it certainly possible and none on the market are available in a more suitable summer fabric. -
Missed this one. The newest version is designed so the G-hooks need to be tilted and then lifted to release. The original design, in some circumstances, allowed the G-hooks to come undone unintentionally during play even if the harness was snug.

New Umpire - How does this prospective equipment list look?

Black frames are expected back in stock around 6/6. Pretty sure the Silver frames are going on sale sometime soon. -
We suspended our plate coat program August of last year. Changes in US economic policy no longer made it viable as a made to order product. We're looking into alternatives but it isn't a top priority for us so I don't expect us to resurrect in the near term.

He's wearing the LE Orange version.

This is my biggest gripe with the original version of the DaviShins. While I don't have a simple solution, it is a big factor in the updated design we're working on.

At Face Value (Magnesium Masks & Other Things)
DerekGDS replied to MadMax's topic in Umpire Equipment
Fit for me (for the alternatives) is: Easton EvoShield Rawlings If i recall correctly EvoShield had the most vents but I think its ugly. All-Star is superior in every way besides the shape compared to all of them though. -
The Kuta's interior is our cross-linked foam (Covalta). The DX Mk2 is largely EVA with Covalta in higher risk areas like the chest and collarbone regions. There will be a different limited run available next year but this years run is sold out.

In all seriousness, I don't think any company serving both the player and umpire markets has put real R&D into the umpire side. It's almost entirely player oriented. It varies but a lot of their umpire gear is just relabeled or tweaked. In other cases, something is developed and not even touched or looked at again for a decade. And honestly, for those larger companies, the total addressable market for umpires is too small to justify dedicated investment. Now, the Enduro does operate in a narrow segment within an already niche market... no getting around that. But our full lineup does cover the lower-mid/mid market, so we're not just chasing the top end. I think the real gap isn't product, it's distribution and education. Two of our admittedly weaker areas that we're working on improving.

Honestly, i think it would be prohibitively expensive but you all can tell me. The price would probably be in the $60.00-$70.00 range for the universal pads and $75.00-$85.00 for a deerskin pad sock! Most of the deerskin coming out of Japanese tanneries is New Zealand Red Deer and it isnt cheap.

It sounds like you guys really want some Japanese Deerskin...

Yes, I apologize @834k3r @Velho. They will be made available on gerrydavis.com as well just got quite the backlog across the org at the moment!

Yes, the Davis site is only Davis equipment and apparel and will be the only place to get our Limited Edition pieces and NASO Member benefits. Right now, it is in a minimally viable form. In the future it will have: More technical content Better content comparing various product lines Product breakdowns Memberships (yes they will provide value) Early access to new products It's all evolving in time but anything Davis branded is available there. Gerry Davis Sports remains a full retail experience.

Yes, off the top of my head they fit: Nike Ti Wilson Frames Davis Trace ZRO-G

Lower end of traction. I wouldn't recommend them in areas where it is soggy or bogged down. They're better suited for drier conditions and turf. I believe @MadMax wears.

@Jonump Thermal physiology/thermodynamics is not my expertise, so please take this with a grain of salt. The best determination will be how it feels on you. You'll want to make sure it is flexible and can properly wrap around you. Squeezing/manipulate the padding a bit. If you're not getting any movement or it is very hard then it has a high degree of crystallinity. In this state, the foam is no longer absorbing energy, it is transmitting it. If you know you're working in these temps, I would store the CP in your house when not in use. or make sure to get it warmed up well in the car. This will help substantially when it comes to putting it on. You wont need what I would estimate to be 15-30 minutes to get it up to temp with your body heat. I believe your skin on average sits at roughly 92 degrees and the chest/torso is on average warmer then that. If you're wearing the CP with a jacket it should with time rise to well above the 60 degree ratio. Realistically, the foam towards your chest is going to get above low to mid 80s and the outer foam should realistically be well above the 60 degree threshold. Adding an insulating layer around the chest protector would make a huge difference in these temperatures. Without that, I would say at 40 degrees you'd really be pushing the limit of safety without some sort of insulating layer that encapsulates the Kuta. Hope that helps a bit.
-
Technically, it can be used in temperatures below 60 with your body heat but it needs ample time to warm up. We want to make sure that it isn't being used when the foam it is too stiff. Environment conditions and body heat change a lot of things but that is our general disclaimer to be on the safe side.

If you need an alternative we got the machines and got the hats!

Honestly, there aren't a ton except for 550 alternatives like the PTS65. All the other options in their Surge style fabric is going to be mostly adjustable or snapback. For 530 black I show 6 3/4, 7 1/2 and 7 3/4 are either not being produced or are discontinued. For 540 black I show 7 1/2 and 8 are either not being produced or are discontinued. For 550 black I show 7 1/4, 7 3/8 and 7 3/4 are either not being produced or are discontinued. Other then that, stock for 530 and 540 isn't terrible on most sizes. Not necessarily, there are a ton middleman wholesalers.
