While working a tournament on the weekend I managed to basically strip the outside of my plate shoe's lace, so it's now dead. I see that UA carries replacement NB laces but according to the review they aren't the same shape as the originals that ship with the shoes (that weird ribbed lace).

Anyone know if NB sells those separately? Or if it's possible to get them elsewhere?

I did this too. I just went down to the local ice rink and bought hockey skate laces.

Great question! Guys just tell me they get the longest black shoe lace they can find at Walmart.

Yeah that's what I did as well, but I really like those NB laces because I find that they don't need to be double-knotted.

I went and bought parachute cord. The knot did slip a bit the first game, but none since then. (5 games)

What length do we need for the plate shoes? Too lazy to go outside and pull mine out.

The laces that come with the shoes are bubble laces and no double knotting is necessary.

Look here: https://www.amazon.com/New-Balance®-Bubble-Lace-Black/dp/B000IBEU7K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466656708&sr=8-1&keywords=bubble+shoelaces

Sweet! Will have to see if they ship to Canada when I get home...

that's a slick link!

BTW .... 54" works fine w/ NB plate shoes .......

54" is too short for mine... My 460 laces are taller than I am, so they're at least 70" long. I bought 72" laces (6') and they work but are a bit long.

TSC always has some in stock

TSC?

Shipping a 2-3 dollar item to Canada? Why not just check out the local MEC or shoe store? TSC = Tractor Supply Store, a chain of agricultural/garden supplies stores.

stop by a red wing boot store if you have one in the area, I walked in and told them I needed a pair of black boot laces. They handed me two pair for free

I grabbed a pair of 72" boot laces at Walgreens, because I didn't have time to go anywhere else the other night. They're ok, but will probably upgrade.

My NB's are like 6 weeks old, and the end of the lace "tape" or whatever it is had come undone, and the lace came out of the hole, and I could not get it back in (TWSS). Not sure if I want to get another of their laces. I've heard they're bad the last couple years.

Edit: And I'm a huge NB fanboy. I have 7 pairs of NB shoes right now.

I believe that's called an aglet.

I haven't, but haven't found that exact style of lace. I quite like the original NB laces, so these may be on my list.

Have any of you tried SofSole Performance Laces? laces-image-2.png

I've been using these for years in my running and triathlon shoes, and just this evening dropped them in a pair of NB450's. My first impression: "Why did I take so long to figure THIS out?" (Just like the Delta Flex, Nutty Buddy and performance tights). They seem snug enough, and the one's in my running shoes have never failed (jinx). Even pressure, and no more tying shoe laces. I think we have a winner.

The correct name is New Balance Sure Lace.

I hate to resurrect a zombie thread, but does anyone know where these are currently sold? I love NB laces, and every site I've visited says they're out of stock (Amazon, etc); the NB site itself no longer even lists laces in a site search.

I would trust the laces sold by ump-attire.com. They look to be very similar to the NB laces, not expensive, and, per the reviews, maybe more durable?

Better than starting a new one, since all this info will be confined to one spot!    Last year I got a set at Ump-Attire.  @JimKirk

I saw those but wasn't sure. I'll give them a shot.
