I re-did this one as a POLL:

Fairly similar to my May post about your strike call, ....this is actually a different query. :D

Note: this is NOT a physical mechanic post, but voicing.

Ok, your strike 3 call ....

Is it:

One word? STRIKETHREE!

Two words? STRIKE _ THREE

If it's 2 words, is Strike emphasized, or Three emphasized, or ...are they said equally? If one is emphasized, are the words phrased evenly, or do they trail off, ...etc...etc....

Go!;)

One word - sound is similar to my other called strikes - something like stee--raiii - but with a bit of a different tempo.

I don't usually verbalize the number of balls or strikes when I call them

Mine is one word "Strike". But I've been told the kids call me the pirate because my strike call sounds more like "arghh". In my mind I am saying strike.

None of the above.

On important ones, a big right hand up, "HA!", step back and start the chain saw, ala Jim Evens. Always keep the eyes forward (unlike Jim, I don't always have four man crews).

On not so important ones, a simple pull and "Hup! will do.

It really depends on the situation.

I voted for "one word"; I just say "THREE!" as I punch forward and pull the chainsaw stepping back slightly with my right leg and lifting my front leg off the ground slightly (does that make sense?). I used to "pull the chain" to the side, but have changed my mechanic since an evaluation last year. I was pulling my head to the right on every strike three call.

Guys, this is great but ....you don't have to give me your physical mechanic .....this poll was for "voicing" only ....but I kind of like the visuals I'm getting:clap:

I point at the batter and say, "SWING --- THEBAT"

Nice!

When I began umpiring, a fellow co-worker was telling me about an umpire he used to have for his softball games. If a third strike was called, the umpire would yell "HE GOT YOU!"

Right down the Pike.......

Cant watch that....(hope he did his best MC Hammer dance afterwards)

Son in law gave me this last one....from his friend who umpires games in the army in afghanistan......

HOOOOOAAAH!......

he gets a pass......Hoooah, means everything but no to Army soldiers.....Plus he umpires wearing a 9MM sidearm.....which means he gets no guff from anyone......

Im efforting to get a picture of him.....I think it would be priceless.....digital cammie pants and boots.....CP, mask, ball bag.... navy shirts.....patrol caps and his 9MM rig......but the beauty of this whole thing is that despite the condtions, our boys still take baseball with them wherever they go.......
