So, on another thread @stevis dropped that he likes "My Shot" from Hamilton. I have two I have been favoring of late. One is from the "Rudy" film soundtrack and it's called "Tryouts".

The other is a recent re-recording of Mark Knopfler's song from the "Local Hero" film soundtrack called "Going Home". He's got a ton of guests on this version and stretched it out to nearly 10 minutes.

I typically will listen to something more relaxing ...so, calling it a "jam" wouldn't be correct.  It's what works for me, that is, IF I listen to anything at all!   Here's an example:

I have to go find my jam cassette tape with Styx - Too much time on my hands and Rainbow - Since you've been gone.

There was a third one on there but I am afraid it probably doesnt hold up as well. Starship- We built this city...

56 umpires are attending the inaugural installment of UPC’s week+-long camp (check it out! www.umpcourse.com ), and they’re informed that they’re about to call live baseball games (MSBL) in 1 hour.

About 30 umpires look totally spooked, like deer in headlights. Another ten or so look like they knew this is coming, and start mentally preparing themselves. A few look emboldened, like an extreme sports adrenaline junkie about to jump out of a plane… on a skateboard… while juggling flaming swords… you know the type.

Four guys look completely at ease with it, like it’s another day on the farm. These are the first four PUs. They were chosen for a reason.

Everyone else looks visibly apprehensive, else tense.

One PU – yours truly – promptly decides to cut the tension to ribbons, and since he came prepared, fishes out his blue (what else) Bluetooth speaker, queues up his umpire’s playlist, and unleashes this upon the room:

Tension eviscerated.

Others on the playlist?
Rolling Stones – Out of Time

Hootie & the Blowfish – Time

Pink Floyd – Time

Styx – Too Much Time On My Hands

The Lone Bellow – Time’s Always Leaving

Jackson Browne – Running On Empty

Electric Light Orchestra – Mr Blue Sky

Sense a theme?

Ooh ... ooh ... ooh!  Old people's music?   😉

I am not sure... Why come when you hear in game music, it is mostly from this same era where its argued that music was bad? (Probably because my ears don't hear so good anymore and everything else is just noise.)

Anecdote for partial explanation: When my son was in HS they had walk up music administered by parents that did screen* the music. One of his friends submitted a song, got rejected, another rejected, and another. At that point the 40 something parent said "you get Back in Black".

*or tried to, I had to run into the booth a time or two to quickly turn off songs)

** Not arguing all "old" songs are appropriate. You quickly realize this if you're eve been at karaoke and someone picked an Aerosmith and had to read the lyrics scrolling across the screen.

I argue that you generally know the music fits the “old AND good” categories when people lose site of (or forget) there are actually objectionable lyrics in it.

Maybe it is just because we were more subtle “back in the day.”

It's not that old songs are more appropriate...it's that they have been heard so much that their lyrics upon release that were edgy or fully offensive or inappropriate are now ok because society is desensitized to them.

I'll tell you one song that has not aged well and I heard it on a baseball field last summer..."Used To Love Her" by GNR...woof.

I prefer to listen to classical on my drive to the game. Mostly Mozart.

Doin’ some night games, @ousafe?

MLB TV is one of the best purchases out there. All out of market game plus audio/radio on ALL games.

This might be a dumb question...,

If I am traveling out of my home market, can I then tune into those games or does the app restrict you based on what address you register under?

Nope, you're geo fenced. So if your team is the Mariners and you happen to be in Houston for the weekend, you're gonna be able to watch Seattle...unless of course they're playing Houston.
