Funny HS balk story

So I’m on the bass for a 16u high school development fall game. R1, pitcher blows through the stop. I call the balk, batter singles to LF. 
“Time!  You stay at second, batter, you go back and bat again. “

F1 “What I do?”

Me ”you didn’t come set and stop”

F1 “Yes I did”

Me “Ok. You’d rather have first and second, no outs?”

(F1 with the deer in the headlights blank stare )

Coach “You didn’t stop Timmy. Shut up and pitch”

Better than being on the trout, I guess.  Salmon else might think differently.  All in all, it’s just a bunch of carp that this is an immediate dead ball.

Just a play I thought some may find amusing. The rule is what it is.

This is one of the rule differences between OBR and Fed that I just don’t get the reasoning for this one.

Remember, the reasoning is not based on the safety of the participants, or their (in)ability to comprehend it / play through. 

It’s based on Fed’s perception that we umpires can’t administer it “correctly”.

And they're right. Especially when we're talking about the many sub varsity lifers who...... 

Don't need to go to clinics- They've been umpiring 25+ years

Can't  understand why they don't get varsity games

and only have navy. 

We don't need to add to their daily afternoon $*!t shows. 

I'd like to see FED put something in the rules similar to the mercy rule. Leave it up to the states. That way the state could say "no dead ball balks in Varsity games" ....Then I wake up and realize even if that happened I'm in NJ where they would just stay with dead ball balks.....

Getting back to the OP, the pitcher barricuda stopped but he didn't, so Richvee called the balk while reppin the Navy Bluefin.

I'd say Richvee snared the pitcher marching to the beat of his own drummer but then I'd just be fighting the tide.
