I can relate.  Last Monday, I got hit while in C, runner on 2B, hit right in the foot.  It was the first time I've been hit in over 30 years.

Oh, and to beat all, the jack-leg 3B coach insisted his runner should move up to 3B.

Of course R2 should move up. Last two times in MLB all the runners moved up. Never mind that they were forced and your R2 wasn't.

I've always kind of wondered...let's say the ball just brushed your pants or something and went pretty much undisturbed to a fielder, do you still have to call umpire INT?

Yes, assuming the umpire has any integrity (not meant as a slight to you).  the rule doesn't say 'if the umpire affects the path of the ball"

@noumpere is right, @zoops ... Look at it this way, can there be Interference called on a baserunner even if he doesn't physically contact the fielder?

That's kinda what I figured, although I'm sure you'd eat a poop sandwich if you nullified a double play and gave the batter a single just because the ball ticked your pants.  Rules are rules though.  Sounds good

I got hit in the field this last weekend for the first time ever. I was in C and the batter hit a freakin' laser. I moved a little, but too little too late - whacked me right on top of the bill of my cap. Knocked me on my butt.
