Mike was always a great guy that loved to help anyone that asked. He has helped with the development of so many umpires you cannot put a number on it, whether it was back in his association or on here. Whenever he posted I made sure to read it, and I have learned so much through our talks in the chat. This is a very sad day for anyone that he has helped throughout his life. Great umpire, great friend, great person.

RIP Mike Taylor

I don't even know what to say. I just finished my game. Came on here and saw this. Hit me like a ton of bricks. Haven't been this sad in a long time.

I propose we wear an armband or something in his memory.

I was already thinking about doing something that week of CDP when he planned on going. It'd be nice if something could be made for all umpires that knew him.

This was posted on his FB page....

Mike had a heart attack last week. He went to Kentucky for a rigging event and his friend found him unresponsive. This is just what I heard.

It's a few months away, but what about the week of his birthday (May 29)?

I was going to contact his association and see if I could purchase a patch. I'll keep it in my pocket or ball bag through the year.

RIP Mike

All your games will now be in cool wind and sunny days.

I have it on good authority that God is a Big Baseball Fan and they play great ball.

Call them like you see them for eternity brother.

Man, I did my game this evening and came back to this thread and feel just like Jax. Never met him but had some great discussions on here even in the last few months.

RIP Mike

I would like to send Mike's wife/family a card.

I think it would show his family a huge sign of support if we can all (or those who wish) to send a card to his wife/family.

Please PM me an address.

Wow.  This is such a shock.  He was just updating us on his condition.

I always learned from his posts and found him to be thoughtful and considerate.

My sympathies go out to his friends and family.  RIP MST.

Oh, wow.  Such a shock.  I never met him, but I feel like this is a terrible loss.

I learned a lot from his posts.  I always thought of him as a calm and insightful voice.

Very sad.

Excellent idea.  Sometimes even our near family doesn't truly understand what we're doing online for so long, or the impact we're having on random people across the entire nation, and even in other countries through this site.  Would be great to send them 10-20 cards of random people whose lives he slightly to moderately improved just through his communication.

Can't even describe how I'm feeling right now. I exchanged txts with mike not even 24 hours ago. Despite the fact that I never met mike in person it never felt that way to me. He was a great man and a great friend and mentor to me and I count him as one of the people who has contributed the most to my umpiring ability. RIP Mike. You will be missed friend

@johnnyg08 please PM me info if you have it. Id like to send his family my condolences.

This is a huge blow to the umpiring community as a whole. I was able to chat here with Mike a few times and really enjoyed learning from his wisdom through those chats and his many posts. He will be greatly missed. I'll never forget the things I learned from him. RIP Mike.
