  1. The honor was all mine, sir. It was the best experience as an umpire that I have ever had. You are a great partner, friend and umpire. It's been a long road for both of us but we did it. I don't post very often for various reasons but there is a tremendous amount of knowledge on this site that I have tapped into simply by lurking. I thank Warren and everyone on U-E.
  2. Same thing happened to me last night. I had the '62 Mets playing in this game. They brought in a pitcher that was literally throwing the old eephus pitch. The game was pretty much over when they brought in young Rip Sewell. His first pitch floated up, up and up before dropping down into a very borderline strike. I called a strike because I could see where this was headed. The parents of the team that was winning, by 9 @ this point, just came unglued.
  3. I've never really had a problem in Michigan. If I think they are lolly gaging, I take a couple of warm up pitches away. But I have worked with individuals that let them get away with 6-7 warm ups per inning.
  4. Just got mine from UA. I tried them on and they fit great! I love the feel of the fabric. At first glance, the quality appears to be top notch. I can't wait to get'em on the field. I also got the new New Balance plate shoes too. Low tops and these fit great. Can't wait to try these out!
  5. It's been an interesting conversation, to say the least. I agree that this glove is illegal. I would tell the coach during his warmups that he needs to change it.
  6. I have had the pleasure of working 7 games with Thunderheads. He is very professional, approachable and calls a great game. I knew every time we went to the field that I had a very good partner that knew what he was doing and where he supposed to be. He took care of business.
  7. I would balk for a start/stop. I actually saw something similar two years ago in a regional semi-final game. No call. Coach came out and the umpire sold it well.
  8. What Maven said. Nothing good can come from you saying something to the coach without knowing for sure what he is doing.
  9. First of all, who really cares? That being said, I will use two 98% of the time. Sometimes in summer games, I will just use 1. Like Grayhawk said, it's a personal choice.
  10. Show off! I found the 12. You want them back? Good for you brother. I use a treadmill, work on my plate stance and do some squats.
  11. Never thought of that search, Tks. I'll give it a shot.
  12. I did a search but couldn't find anything. I need to shape a Douglas protector. Can I use a heat gun on a low setting to do so? I want to shape the very bottom plate so it doesn't stick out as much and is more conformed to my torso.
  13. More hustle from myself. Work harder to get those strikes on the lower end of the zone, be professional. Be more knowledgeable in the rules.
  14. Congrats! I too call volleyball and when it's good, it's fun to call. And you're right, most of the time it calls itself.
  15. But you have to carry me in one of them I'm not called Leadfoot for nothing!
