The Force3 mask received the call up to the Majors during today July 4th. Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals game by MLB umpire Todd Tichenor.  Congratulations to Tichenor for engraving his name in the umpire equipment history books and congratulations to the Force3 developers and brand owners.  The hard work put together is paying of.

"Umpire equipment history books." Really? Let's not make this bigger than it is.

In your opinion, and everybody here knows what I say about opinions.

The picture on the cover of that history book is a guy sniffing a jock strap.

We get it. You work for them.

But they still weigh a lot, and sit further from your face. And they protect as well as my Champro mag/Team Wendy rig (per their respective websites), at nearly twice the cost.

Nearly twice the weight, and nearly twice the cost.

From the company that puts plastic protection on your shoulders, but not over your ribs and heart.

That's just my opinion.

I think both products are innovative, and headed in the right direction, though. But not quite ready for the history books, again, in my opinion.

I wore mine today on a college game and got nine innings in in 1:51..  What was really crazy was 13 strikeouts and 0 walks.  Pitchers were dealing.  Owner was trying to delay as game was started at 6 and fireworks were going at 9:15.  Had three verses of God Bless America and then had the field dragged between the top and bottom of the seventh.  Didn't work. Why can't all my games be like that?

Emailed Jason and he said that those were the only tan pads and Tichenor wanted them. He also said that the tan pads will be available in the future.

I asked on the other site about MLB or MiLB guys wearing UE or Force 3 CPs and shins. He answered no MLB guys to his knowledge wore UE stuff but they had a Honigs account so they might. He also mentioned the Defender mask would be worn in MLB very soon but he didn't say how soon. This was on 7/1. I guess when he said very he meant a couple three days. I'm close to trying it but I really want to see the mask in person first.

I have worn the Force3 mask for about 50 games so far this season. The weight and feel took a few games to get used to (my other mask is a Diamond iX3 with Team Wendy pads), but I have been very pleased with it. I have taken quite a few shots to it and, at least to me, I felt it less than I recall with other mask/pad combos.

My one minor beef is that I haven't been able to get comfortable with my usual 6-stitch hat that I wore with the other setup. So I have had to wear 4-stitch. The way the pads sit, they seem to push down and obstruct my vision with the extra half inch or so on the brim.

Just one guy's opinion.

I like my Force 3 mask. Had no issues with the weight. Takes some adjusting for the six stitch. Find that if I wear the bill higher on the head I see better. As for the comments about not having hard plastic on the chest protector, I took an 88 mph shot to the sternum tonight. Piece of cake. Not sure what the issue is with hard plastic. People seemed to survive without it before.

The only thing I would add about the CP is that the shots I have taken to the chest have felt better than a few of the ones that I have taken on the plastic shoulder guards. Overall I have found it to be more comfortable to wear than the West Vest Gold without feeling like I am sacrificing protection.

Same here. If I had been insecure about the Force 3 chest protector I wouldn't have sold my West Vest.

As for the UE CP: Took a pretty good shot in left shoulder and another one in left upper chest today. (Really horrible men's league catchers) and I felt the chest one at first but now, several hours later and no marks, no soreness or stiffness. Did not feel a thing in shoulder hit. Also had a stomach hit at bottom of extension. Sort of felt it but no marks or soreness.

Wear one and love it. Feel very protected. I'm a female teenager I don't care if it will protect me from a dumbbell thrown at my face if it is ugly I will not wear it.

What if it came in Hello Kitty paint scheme, @Rulekeep?

Jim said they will have some at the Clinic in Arizona to try out. I am going to try it out there and see if I like it enough to change from the bucket. Not sure if I will or not. My only complaint about my Wilson HSM is it is so hot during the summer. Other than that, I love it.
