Spray it on. Let it dry. Apply second coat if you have a notion to.

I did not wear mine on wet/muddy fields. Damp cloth removed dust.

Enjoy. And don't suck.

I just got the plate coat from All American but won't wear it until next spring. I'm wondering about how to keep it clean - especially with switching balls in and out of the pockets. Should I Scotchguard it all over or in those areas perhaps?

Nic

Have your partner wear ball bags on the bases and handle that part of it.

Thats what they are there for right?

You can Scotch Guard, it won't hurt. I just don't wear mine on potential wet days. And I dry clean mine every so often.

Spray entire coat or just places you want to specifically protect. Your choice. It doesn't stain or discolor the fabric.

Speaking of a Plate Coat, any recommendations for a black shirt over protector and don't the Honig's models go on sale in December?  Thanks for the input.

I use a shirt over the plate coat.  I like that look better than showing the CP.

UNDER the place coat, .... OVER the CP ......

I'm sure that's what you meant

I wear a black shirt under the plate coat but might look for a nice grey one if it matches our poly wool pants.

All American: http://www.allamericansportsshop.net/mm5/merchant.mvc

The owner is a fellow umpire who is a top notch official and a better human being. I buy anything I can from him and would urge all of you to do the same.

While he may not necessarily be able to offer everything at the rock bottom prices of some places, he has first hand experience with everything he sells.

Jax.  Thanks for posting such nice things about Jocko.  I heard that he is quite receptive to feedback!

(I had to put the period after Jax, it kept changing it to Max)  #lame

That is pretty lame. Jax (@JaxRolo) and I look nothing alike.

I'm sure the all-American is nice, but the Honig's is the way to go. It is the same coat that the MLB issues and is built like a tank. I have 3 of them and I wear them every chance I get!

@Fittske24, could you please relay what the material is (wool? polyester? blend?)? I'm considering trying to make one from an existing, repurposed coat.
