  1. The link below is a good example of a foul tip not caught directly in the glove. As Rolo states, as long as it touches the glove first it is a foul tip if caught. http://m.mlb.com/video/v5525599
  2. We wear navy blue coats. I found that the Nike Pro Combat navy blue is a real close match to the Honigs coat.
  3. Marvin preaches getting farther over in the slot during is training sessions.
  4. Yes, this could have been reviewed and most likely overturned. Anyone know of a specific rule on this other than in the definition of "a catch" or the definition of "in flight"?
  5. I have worn Oakley half jackets with clear Rx lenses for three years with no issues. I use an anti fog solution on them during night games to prevent steaming.
  6. Saw an umpire in a 14U world series tournament this past weekend performing (IMO) a ridiculous over the top strike three mechanic. The really bad part is that he did it on all swinging strikeouts'.
  7. I wear NB 450's and have taken many non eventful hits off the toe. One, however, stung pretty bad on the big toe as well. In fact, a base coach asked my partner what kind of shoes I had on to take a impact like that. Does anyone know if the NB shoes are steel toe or composite toe?
  8. IMHO turning your back to the playing field is asking for trouble https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1vtpmm_north-carolina-throws-out-trea-turner-attempting-to-steal-home-acc-must-see-moment_sport
  9. Aircraft Technician (major airline)
  10. Rule7-4-5 only mentions unsuccessful plays at another base. Since the out was made at 2B, B) Play stands.
  11. This play was not even close. Looks like Laz was still moving into position when the ball arrived, but the runner had already slid into the bag.
  12. I was actually watching this game at the time. It was difficult to read his lips but whatever BH said was short and sweet as he was walking away. I think Gosney may have had a quick hook on this one.
  13. The FED strike mechanic is made while facing the field of play. I would caution any PU that is turning to the side to give a strike call to be sure your timing is giving you the best opportunity to see dropped 3rd strikes and batter interference. With the new FED rule pertaining to controlling the backswing, IMO the PU needs to be looking forward to see this. I attended a HS game last night where both of these occurrences were missed while the PU turned away from the batter IMO "grandstanding" delivering strike 3 calls. The HC argued the no-calls and rightfully so. How do you explain to the HC why you didn't call it? Coach, I didn't see it...
  14. ORB = Official Rule Book
  15. Read the ORB Proper mechanics Read the ORB Proper positioning Read the ORB Game management Read the ORB When you watch a game from now on, you will find yourself watching the umpires more than the players.
