I have both. I find myself wearing the patent on most plate jobs, but I tend to wear the matte on the field and always if I'm wearing a jacket or pullover. Why? I have absolutely no explanation...lol As for looking the part, I completely agree, but the matte belt can look just as crisp provided it is taken care of and not creased or cracked. (edited to add this)

THIS... Thread over I have no idea why, when you wear a west vest and never feel a ball hitting you, would you even consider sending it to TW to retrofit it. Isn't it superior to begin with? I agree. However with the retrofit it becomes MUCH lower profile and feels much less cumbersome.

Think of it as a new CP, that's basically what it is. I had my gold for 6 seasons, decided to retrofit it this year. Had I purchased a new CP it would've cost me $150 anyway. There's absolutely no reason I won't get 5+ yrs out of my retrofit.

Got my gold back from Sheilla about a two weeks ago and I can tell you with the retrofit it's extremely low profile.
