3rdGENump
I know I just posted my mask, but my new one just came in. All-star FM4000UMP. AKA system 7 mask. Good thing you took a picture of it, that bright silver won't last long! It will be a dull grey in no time.
MCump
Old on the left, new on the right. I noticed last night in my first game with the Diamond/TW that I could not hear myself. I felt like I was in a sound proof room. Has anyone else had that? I also saw the ball hit my mask off the dirt and had to consciously think if I felt it or not. Thanks to everyone here for pushing the TW pads!

I would like for it to be a little bit more dull so there is less glare. (Now that I finally wore it on the field.) It is an amazing mask though. So light, so comfy, I barely felt it. HM_SanDiego
MCump An umpire buddy of mine who purchased the Team Wendy mask pads and used them for awhile - said he then went back to Wilson Leather pads - because of the exact same thing -- - the fabric pads "do" tend to attenuate or absorb a significant and noticeable amount of sound (i.e. ones voice projection) - when wearing the fabric pads loaded into your mask frame of choice. -- I just changed out my +POS fabric pads for leather pads - and I too noticed a huge difference in how loud my voice was with leather pads vs. with the fabric pads. In the end - it seems a small concession (losing a bit of vocal projection) - given the amount of protection the Team Wendy's pads provide. I don't think the muted voice or projection is noticed from the field, I think it's just whoever is wearing it only hears the difference

Thunderheads
@sflo0, You're more likely to get hurt by the size and placement of that throat guard. I'd highly recommend a 6", and place it on the inner bottom rung of your mask Nice looking rig though!
sflo0
@Thunderheads Any reason why? I just recently attached the throat protector, and have only had a one or 2 hits to it so far, soft pitches that bounced off the dirt and up over the catcher in lower level games. but it is positioned so it will clack against the CP if hit. In your stance, I doubt that will clack your CP in your plate stance, but if it does, you're good! FOR ME, it wouldn't work ...... See the post of my custom All-Star FM25 for my positioning....that works for me ...

MadMax
Q: If my All-Star FM4000 took a foul right above the "eyebrow", on the joint between the downtube and the upper eye slit horizontal bar, such that it bent the the horizontal bar... Is that something I should take up with All-Star, should I try to fix and straighten myself, or should I request/rely on a place like MaskIt to remedy when I send the mask in to be repainted? I'm going to send in both my masks... The intention is to get the FM4000 powder-coated a charcoal / gunmetal tint. Not black, but not bright silver. The Easton Speed Elite will get a new, more durable silver finish. Both of these masks are dulling after a season of use.

I'm not concerned with having the pads or the harness exchanged... I have tan TW's in it and a Honig's harness at present. I kept the previous harness and pads in a bag. D62 blue
well I was able to buy a NIKE mask recently ( a very reasonable $$) from a retiring D1 along with a few other items . Yes those are nearly new , all star LUC pads that i had laying around on it . The pads the mask came with were not the NIKE labeled pads . The D1 was given the mask by a Coach , the harness is NIKE though . It has a # printed on the inside of the strap . Likely the player who used it . I wore it in a HS gm last weekend , nice field of vision a bit lighter than my diamond silver with team wendys . One comment/observation though , I have a large head (i wear a 73/4-7/8 cap ) , the Nike harness is barely large enough for my head . I have all 3 of the adjustments straps all the way to their ends , just barely in the buckles . see photos ! Marc
