nice TWs, Jax.

You can tell the FM4000 by the built in TG. Looks just like the dangler.

I forgot where I got them. And the Mizuno TG. 😀

Here's mine Wilson Dynalite with recently added new Team Wendy pads.

I'm still getting use to my first set of pads that aren't leather.

nice. I dig the grey TWs. Haven't seen those on UA.

You should have bought it and burned it so no one would ever consider trying to protect their face with that monstrosity

Don't laugh, I used that mask with balloon for the first few yrs that I umpired. When we did softball we used the mask and a cup only! We were much tougher er...stupider back then. ;)

Move your bottom pad down about an inch.  The padding should wrap around the bottom bar of the mask.  Put the velcro straps over the horizontal bar.  It should improve your vision a little, too.

Good point -- it looks like the top might not be wrapped around the frame either

What is the difference between the Shock FX and the Shock FX 2 ?

2

your welcome in advance.

Found it myself. Just thought someone might know.

SHOCK FX 2.0 IMPROVEMENTS

Multiple improvements to an already great item. Greater visibility and limited added protection as follows:

  • Dramatically redesigned the titanium cage in 4 places areas that focused on covering the ABS shell in spots vulnerable to cracking, especially in the chin area

  • Increased the welds on the titanium frame for strength and added durability

  • Added strength to shock absorbers to prevent problems caused by side to side or other angled impacts

  • Tweaked eye opening and moved the frame closer inward to provide even greater visibility

  • Made helmet 1 inch longer to bottom front to provide additional protection

So, as reported by others, the finish on my All Star FM4000 transitioned from a nice brushed / polished aluminum color to a disappointing dull grey color over time. I took it over to the powder coater on Friday. He looked it over and said that it looks like there may not have been much of a clear coat applied to it which led it to dull. Neverthless, for $25 he chemically removed the old finish, did some blasting, and then powder coated it back to a beautiful brushed aluminum color. He also applied about 4 coats of clear afterward so my hope is that this finish holds up longer than the stock finish. My setup is:

All Star FM4000 with brushed aluminum powder coat

Stock All Star Harness with the two extra straps removed

Team Wendy Black Pads

Champro Vented Throat Gurad (4.5 Inch)
