Smitty Advanced Technology 4-Way Stretch Umpire Pants

Did a quick search but couldn't find anything.

Whats the thoughts on these? I've had Honigs Poly Wools (2 different versions, bought one in like 2014 and another in 2017) and love them. Now I believe Honigs as another pair/version of poly wools out. How do these hold up?

These are the ploy-spandex pants that have been out for a couple of years. I have them and love them. I will not go back to the old type pants ever again

Think of golf pants. They breathe very well.

In a good or bad way? Or are they just "different" completely?

I love my Honig's Poly Wools.

You'll probably want the poly wools still for the cold weather games, but you'll love the poly spandex in the summer

Ha. Funny you say that... most of us here in the sun-swamped southwest have Poly-Spandex pants (fading far too fast, but still) for the majority of our games. If we do have poly-wools (Fechheimer for me!), they only come out when the sun (finally) goes down, the lights turn on, and we’ve got night games to play.

Poly-Spandex is a necessity here!

I sold, or gave away all my Honig's polywools in favor of the Smitty golf pants. There's just no reason to wear wool on the athletic field any longer.

That said, they don't look as good as a pair of Honig's, fresh from the dry cleaners. And nothing feels better than slipping on those double kneed plate pants.

I had a permanent crease put in my golf pants, and that makes a big difference looks, and ironing.

The legs are bit too wide, especially on the base pants. Hopefully they'll fix that down the road.

Gerry Davis has their own version out. I might try them this season, as they're getting good reviews.

Maybe not for your locale.........  Had we not received 1"-2" of rain yesterday, and had my opening game for HS season postponed already today, and with a high of 48 degrees today, I would have been rocking WOOL along with cold weather gear on the athletic field.

Same here in the Coachella Valley.  Everybody I know who has switched to the poly/spandex slacks loves them.

Well, I'm wearing long johns here in Ohio!  Game time @ 5pm and weather is currently 40 degrees with up to 30mph wind gusts.   Current temp feels like 28.

At least your GETTING your game in...we had 5" of snow here in NEPAm today! GRUMBLE!!!! Supposed to be 55 and sunny on Sunday for the next game...we'll see. As for the Poly Spandex....they're the only thing I wear now  Cold or warm.

Beginning of the season is so bittersweet in the north. So excited that it's baseball season, yet I hate the cold so much..The thought of being out there in 40 degree windy damp days sucks.

We've gotten extremely lucky in this northern corner of the country. The Pacific Northwest has been surprisingly dry this season. Got rained on just before the start of today's double header. The rest of the time was all partly cloudy and in the upper 50s to low 60s and a light breeze.

Wore these with Under Armour Men’s ColdGear® Infrared Tactical Fitted Leggings and our game started at 40 and ended at 35 and I was fine.

Not to restart an old thread, but I picked up a set of the Smitty Poly Spandex pants from UA recently.  I can't believe all the positive comments and reviews about these pants.  They are being sent back.  I guess I'm stuck in the past on Honig's Poly Wools (when they were made for MLB guys and Honig's sold the authentic retail version) but these Smitty pants look like something a mechanic would wear.  Ive noticed a lot of comments about the temperature and cool factor of these...Ive never really had a problem with heat in the poly wools.  Sure its a bit warmer wearing them when working the plate, but Ill take the tradeoff vs the appearance of these Smitty pants.  The color is also way too dark IMO.  Ill have to check out the GD Fechheimer poly spandex pants or pick up another pair of the GD Fechheimer poly wools.
