Hi Guys,

Has anyone bought the Honig's adjustizer pants with the side tabs?  The website reads that the tabs afford an adjustment up to 4 inches and I wonder if anyone has them and if they like them better than the regular waist or the elasticized extender pants...Thanks!

I have owned a pair with the adjustable waist.  In theory it's a good idea.   Being able to loosen up the waist in the  winter to tuck a few more layers in , or tighten the pants as we get more fit.   But the only problem is the quality of the pants isn't as good as their poly wools.  The pants are perfectly fine, I just prefer my poly wools.

That was my issue with them, and why U-A's polywools were awesome...but they are no more.

I quit buying those. Always had problems with them. Only buy PWs now

I bought a pair of these pants last season...the plastic on the adjuster sripped out and I had to sew them closed to keep them together.  Then one of the latches on the front shredded out of the fabric in the wash.  These are not good pants.

Say what ya want about the Gerry Davis fading issue, but the pants are the highest quality on the market for their price.  I just got two pair of them and love them.  Never had the Honigs PWs, bought the Smittys and they are no bueno.

I've never purshased the adjusters from Honig's, but a buddy of mine did, ...didn't like them at all, and, I've heard lots of people with issues with them.  On the other hand ... never had an issue w/ the Smitty's (standard not PW version).   Great second pair/ backup pair.  They look very similar to PWs from a distance, and the adjuster is comfortable...

I have the Honig's adjustable pants, and they are okay. I'm not a fan of the fabric, it is thin and not very comfortable. I also have a pair of the GD combo adjustable ones, and they are good, the color is just a bit different. The absolute best pants are the Honigs Poly wool, without exception, both in fit and feel.

I have had them. I actually have 3 pair right now. 1 Plate and 2 Base. Switched to the PW this year and there is no comparison.

Too bad Ump-Attire doesn't sell their PW with adjusting waist anymore. I've got a pair each of plate and base and I also have Honigs PW in plate and base. Other than the adjusting waist you cannot tell the difference.

@JimKirk

What happened Jim? Why don't you sell them anymore?

Thanks guys for the input!  I am needing another pair of each (base and plate) and I saw that the waist is adjustable and as my weight fluctuates so that was appealing to me.  Probably going to pass and either go with the Poly Wools or the Gerry Davis  (not a huge fan of the color, but the price seems to be real good).

I love the Gerry Davis, wear them all year and usually get 5-6 years out of the plate pants and longer with the base pants. Love 'em.

Do the Honigs Poly Wools need dry cleaned? In their item description it says they do but I've heard others say mention that they do not dry clean them...

I know Smitty's PW's are 80/20 and do NOT need dry cleaned.

Wash Honigs PW in cold on gentle cycle. Hang dry. Touch up with low heat iron. Been doing it for years and they look great still. Had them since 2008.

I've been wahing mine on cold and drying them in the dryer for years and they look great. I also use a hot iron and steam when ironing them. Seems to work for me.

Any feedback on Smitty's PW's from anyone?

Debating between them and Honigs

I have a pair of smitty's PW's. Hated the expandable waist. Had to have the tailor sew across the  elastic so they wouldn't "expand". The  top of the pants  has a tendency to "roll up" over the belt. I'll look down during a game and see the white inside rolling up over the belt. Had to fix the clasp multiple times also. Hooks and eyes both would come loose after only a handful of uses.

I have a pair of these Honig's Polys w/ Adjustizer tabs. I wear a 34, and got them in a 36, and they work fairly well. Breathe, not too heavy and not too flimsy either. Charcoal hasn't faded, either. These are my primary plate pants (even though they are combos). I wear fairly low profile shinguards and I'm pretty tall and lean, so I didn't need all the roominess.

These were purchased promptly after purchasing and returning a set of Smitty combo pants. I'm a technical genius, and even I was intimidated by the Smitty expanding-waist pants. Way too complicated, way too much hidden material.

As I have conveyed in a couple posts, I just purchased the Boombah flat-fronts for base duty.

At this time, there is no viable source for a poly-wool Ump-Attire pant that works for us - adjusting or otherwise. Very sorry about not having these pants to sell to you guys.

@JimKirk what happened with the lady that own the Ump-Attire brand uniform factory. Don't give a PR answer please.

The lady you are referring to is Beulah Hester. She sold Ump-Attire.com to us 8 years ago. And she continues to have Ump-Attire ball bags, ultimate shirts, accessories, etc made under that brand that we resell - as she always has.
