Are players allowed to "paint their face" with eye black under Fed Rules?  I know in football they are only allowed to have a single stripe underneath their eyes.  I umped a game yesterday where about eight guys looked like the Ultimate Warrior.  It really looked kinda stupid.  I'm floored that the coaches allow this stuff.  But anyway, is there a rule against it?  What about for a pitcher?

Unless your state has added their own rule, they sure are. And for a pitcher, it just comes under the existing, if you judge it to be distracting provision. Unless he uses mirrored paint, I'm not messing with it. They want to look like clowns, have at it.

i think NJ did the same thing this year..

I don't think so.  There was nothing in the POE.

Larry  - we (North Jersey) get a newsletter from our association (NJSBUA) and they said that "per NJSIAA policy, only one straight line or strip of eye black is permitted under each eye" and the mentioned it on our 1st interpeetation meeting

th3,

So, now that we've been relieved of the responsibility to inspect bats and helmets, NJ wants you guys officiating the players' MAKEUP?

Sheesh.

At least there's a plausible safety-related reason for no jewelry...no one's going to get their facepaint caught on something sliding into a base.

North Carolina deemed it intimidation 2 years ago. Must be a single horizontal line directly below the eyes.

PA is the same.....

These are high school kids. Let them have their fun if it's not harming anybody. Had a kid last Friday with the initials of a recently deceased classmate in his eye black, a trajic case of the classmate driving while intoxicated. A small school, close class.

The jewelry rule, really have a hard time tossing a kid for wearing an I love boobies wrist band. My dog has gas and it is killing me. GROSS!!!!!!!!!

The only thing they'll hurt is their pride... in about 20 years when they're looking through old yearbooks.

Yes, NJ has issued a statement as th3 has said. Personally, I can't wait to tell the first face-painted kid I see to go wash his face.

Kids do so many other things to piss me off, I can't see getting uptight about face paint.  I try not to look at them anyway.

Yeah, kids do a lot of stupid stuff that we can just shake our heads at. . So when the state makes a rule that allows me to tell the kid that what he's got on his face not only looks stupid, it's also illegal, I'm surely going to take full advantage of it!
