I had to take the wings off, the neck collar piece off, added the DF, cinched it up snugly. Wraps my ribs. I've considered removing the stomach extension but every time I think I might a baseball finds that place and reminds me I'm glad to have the coverage. I think you'll learn to really like if not love that CP @BillKen. I don't think it's any hotter than my WV Gold or K1 or any of the other five or so different CPs I tried in my first two or three years of umpiring.

The WVG TW has arrived. Feels heavier than before but is thinner and more comfortable than the original. So now much like my garage with two old school Camaro's in it I have the UE and WVG in the back of the SUV to choose from on game day. Makes you almost want to get hit....lol

Ahhhhh....the old vintage west vest gold......The 1st cousin to the riddell power. It is the same plate design as the Power with a few slight modifications (Gap Flaps and addition of T-hooks) Personally I prefer the VWG over the power because of these mods.

So now you guys have me thinking of jumping on the Unequal bandwagon.  I was dead set on a WVG until reading this thread, now I'm just confused.

The Gold is a proven commodity! Taken many many shots. No feel no pain.

As of yet I a have not taken a shot to the chest with the unequal. So I can't vouch for the UE yet.

Ump-attire doesn't have the WVG in my size in stock and they have the best price of anyone else.  I also want to get some new shin guards and a new mask or HSM

Took a direct shot fastball to the UE shin last night...didn't even feel pressure.  It was just a loud pop.  Coach chewed the catcher's butt and told him to go to the mound.  I hollered, "I'm good...I got Kevlar!"  The next pitch was a border curve that I wanted but didn't get...and I told the catcher that we were even now!  He laughed and told the pitcher the whole story when they got to the dugout.  (They were winning 13-2 at the time).  It was a good night!

@BillKen how's your Force3 chest protector after you customized it?

Better...jury is still out because I haven't been hit yet!

Got an NAIA foul ball direct hit upper center chest around the Unequal logo today. No pain, just pressure as if I'd been pushed. "You okay blue?" "No worries. I'm bullet proof. This chest protector has Kevlar in it."

"maybe I need one of those."

Just ordered the Unequal shin guards, CP and the F3 mask.  This umpire is sponsored by F3.

I am in the same boat as Mr. Ump. I have my TW WVG and my UE in my vehicle right now. Last season I was almost exclusively wearing the Unequal...This year I have mainly worn the TW WVG. I love the what having the TW added to the gold did. It conforms really nicely to me. I also have a TW 13' gray douglas. I need to wear it a few more times. The TW padding made the Douglas stiffer and it is taking it a while to conform to my body. I will probably unload one of the three at some point, but I like the options I have at my disposal.

Got my Unequal CP, shin guards and face mask yesterday and they will be getting into game action today.

They will likely be stiff for the first few games! Took mine about a weeks worth of games to soften up. Enjoy, you will love them!

Well, I knew there would be someone who didn't love the Unequal.   I have been processing this for a few days trying to get it straight in my head before I wrote about it.  It is hard since I love the Unequal CP so much.  But, in the interest of honest and full disclosure........

I worked with a partner in JUCO game last week (same partner who has the ultimate van locker/dressing room on wheels I have mentioned before- he drove) who wore an Unequal CP all last season until the summer college woodbat season when he took a direct pitch from a D1 pitcher in a MINK game.  Catcher got crossed up he said and was looking outside curve ball or off-speed when F1 threw a screamer direct straight shot to the center of his chest.  He showed me a picture of a bruise in the center of his upper stomach just below his chest/heart that rivals any bruise picture I have ever seen for nasty.  Man, I am still trying to process that.  He said the pitch was in upper 80's to mid-90's and that it HURT!  A LOT!

He has "retired" the Unequal for those games and maybe for good.  I am concerned.

Wondering if I should recommend that he report this to Force3/Unequal manufacturers/Jason Klein at ABUA?

Any other reports of injury or serious bruising when being hit while wearing Unequal that you guys know of?

I put mine on and had a friend hit me with a bat. Ummm.....yeah. it hurt. No bruising, but it wasn't that hard a hit.

Buyer's remorse. I sold my champion and have only the UE. Wishing I'd bought a new WVG.

I've been hit square in the sternum with a pitch in that range.  It left a red mark for about 3-4 hours.  No bruising.  I don't wear the bottom pad that covers the area you are talking about and it hurts like hell when hit in my fat muscle.  56 years to get that muscle in pristine condition and one 58 feet fastball and, POW!  Have to hit the buffet line and go back to zero.  I've taken some shots with that protector on and never had the results like that.

Me either Stu.  Had multiple foul balls and deflected pitches.  But I am a lil' bitch and hide really close to the catcher simulated dry humping.  This guy is HUGE!  Tall, wide, rather large human especially when compared to me.  He could have been a lineman or linebacker in college, I don't know.  Great guy.  I really felt bad for him when I heard the story and saw the pic.  Want to help in some way.   He shouldn't have to endure the pain of the shot AND the ass pain for the cost of the CP that didn't do the job for him.

At least I don't think he should.  All the advertising has reduces shock, lower profile, etc.

I'm 6-2,  250# and worked last night with a partner that I've had a lot of games with.  After the game, he told me that it didn't even look like I had a CP on.

I'm about 6 games in now with my UE and I've continued tweaking and adjusting it all along the way.  I've only taken one bump on the shoulder cap, and that was no big deal.  I like it a little better each time I wear it and I feel really well protected.  It is growing on me...but man I wish it was a little lighter and cooler!
