Has anybody bought this cup? Anybody bought this and a nutty buddy willing to compare?

I was never quite sold on NB, although I'm sure it works. I know my traditional cup can do the job, this just looks like the ultimate version of the tried-and-true (You can see it stop a 9mm on YouTube).

I am STILL wearing my recalled  in 2008 UnderArmour cup because it is so comfortable and has not failed me yet.  Starting to think I am tempting fate.  I am NOT interested in Nutty Buddy.

I own it but haven't worn it in a game yet. I'm happy with my purchase; it is made of very substantial materials and doesn't seem like it will ever need to be replaced.

The blue rubber is thicker and less pliable than I expected, but it seems to conform better than the McDavid it replaced.

Just a headsup, you can find it on Amazon with free shipping. I chose to go with the company website. I put the item in my shopping cart but did not buy it right away. Later I got an email with a $5 off coupon, which pushed me over the edge. Shipping still cost me $5, though.

Maybe @DiamondMMA will make an umpire-empire discount code (maybe not since Gerry sells it.)

My quest for the ultimate in comfort and protection continues.  Since I caved in to all the rave reviews of the Nubby Bubby and was not impressed and truly scared for my continued adventures as a man with his privates intact I am once again in the hunt for better, more comfortable protection for "my boys".

 

So I just ordered the Diamond MMA cup from Amazon.com.  Delivery next week.  I hope this is "THE One!"

Anyone with stories to tell or reviews for its use by baseball umpires please share.  There are scores of high praise by users in the MMA/Death by blows and kicks forums.

I put the Diamond in my UA jock's cup pocket yesterday and strolled around my house for a bit. Sorry @Jocko and Rolando, no video.

The cup is essentially formed rubber in the entire shape of cup with the hard plastic/polymer part inset into the rubber. Unlike all the cups I've tried so far, It's very roomy. Covers down under to the "taint" region. And seems to sit low and stay there instead of riding up or floating. Since the rubber is wider/thicker than the thin/narrow "gasket" of rubber around the NB cup it fits more comfortably and doesn't dig. However, you know it's there. It's pretty substantial in weight compared to NB and UA cups. But, it doesn't seem to pooch out like the XO brand banana cups do. I rapped my junk pretty hard with my knuckles and felt nothing but pressure/push where the rubber edges touch my legs and nether regions. Two games today. So, we will see how it does.

No cup shots last night in my plate job during game 1 of HS JV DH. It was comfortable the whole time. I wore it in bases in game 2 and on way home, almost one hour drive. Very comfortable. Had to adjust it a couple of times in game 1. Probably because I did not have it in cup pocket of jock properly at first. Reseated it between games and no more adjusting.

These two JV teams played better baseball than some of the Varsity I've had and had more effective and quicker working pitchers than some colleges I've worked this year. @grayhawk. One of the team's was your HS alma mater, Tigers. Over nearby rival Jaguars. By the way they share this site as each's home field.

Yessir!  This bad boy will fit into any normal jock cup pocket.  I use an UnderArmour jock.  The Diamond MMA company sells an awesome looking black with blue trim 4 strapped jock for a few bucks ($30ish) that I thought overkill since nobody is actually trying to take my junk away from me to win a match.  I think it looks pretty badass too.  Unlike me.  Not that looking badass while inside a cup pocket of a jock matters in the least.  Hahaha!

I agree with you...I like what I see and have read about the cup, and I don't feel I need to grab either of MMA's harnesses. I currently have a rotation of about 4 pairs of Nike compression's that I use that all have cup pockets, so knowing that this will fit into that is a great selling point for me!

 

I'm thinking that my boy's may be getting a new friend soon!

Before I started reading UE, I would have thought nothing about it. A cup is a cup. Now you guys have got me nervous. I'm using the Shock Doctor that came with my compression pants and twice during my HS JV game last night the catcher had setup outside leaving me completely exposed, and the pitch came in bouncing inside. My brain is just screaming at the catcher "OGodOGodOGodCatchItCatchItCatchIt!" (He did, both times. - *whew*).

Regardless of which you go with: nutty buddy, shock doctor, MMA, etc., if you want ultimate protection you need to retro-fit so it will work with a Davey Strap.
