New jersey high requires dark blue shirt for baseball and powder blue for softball. What are states requirements for high baseball and softball.

Posted

Virginia is the same.  Although some associations can choose to wear different.  But for regional and state playoffs, it's Navy for baseball and Powder for Softball.  Starting in 2014 (the VHSL 100th Year), You can wear Navy or Powder Blue (with black collar) and just Navy with black collar for softball.

Texas is pretty liberal. Navy is technically still the default though black and polo blue are the most common from what I've seen. Most other colors are allowed including powder blue, powder blue with red, white and navy trim, white, cream.

Technically Michigan is Navy..... but I understand that as long as you match and have your patch or MHSAA logo somewhere.... you're fine Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

Florida has gone to Black and MLB Blue for the playoffs this season, then all season next year. Most of the guys have already purchased and wear the new shirts.

Concur

This year during the regular season we wear anything we want. Many of us have purchased the new Black and Polo Blue Shirts.

Of course no numbers on shirts

Montana used to be strictly powder blue for HS softball, but i beleive this year they allowed Navy (score!).

Posted

I believe navy and powder blue are the two "accepted" colors in Michigan, but like Thunderheads said, as long as you match and have the MHSAA logo on, there won't be a big deal made of it.

Iowa is primarily navy blue for baseball, but I have seen people wearing black and powder blue.

In softball we actually wear white shirts (much more comfortable on a hot day, and we play in the summer) but powder blue is also acceptable for regular season games.

I stand corrected! I got around to viewing the MHSAA Powerpoint over concussions and rules today, and this was one pf the last slides...

Our annual reminder to all umpires that the only acceptable umpire shirt is BLUE. This may be navy blue or powder blue, but it must be blue. At no time are black, red, white, gray, or any other color of umpiring shirt allowed for any regular season or postseason game involving an MHSAA member school. Coaches are invited to report any umpire uniform violation to the MHSAA office.

So there you go. ONLY navy or powder blue are allowed in Michigan

Indiana is Navy for baseball and powder blue with blue collar for softball.  I've never understood why powder blue with black could not be used for baseball too so long as the crew matches.

Missouri is Navy for baseball and I have no clue on softball as I haven't worked softball in 5 + years. Really wish NFHS and the state associations would get with the program and go with black and polo blue shirts for baseball, looks way more professional and the polo blue is exponentially cooler on hot humid days.

Pennsylvania is navy shirts for baseball.  My association also requires charcoal pants.  I don't know if charcoal pants are a statewide thing, or just something my association requires.

Not sure if it's a state policy (I don't think it is), but here is what the association says:

If you are working alone, any professional umpire shirt color is acceptable. If you are working with

a partner, any professional umpire shirt color you agree on is acceptable. If you can’t agree, you

should wear the Default Uniform:

•Black shirt [no numbers], black or white undershirt, black fitted cap [plain, no

logos], black shoes, black socks, black belt. Your outer garment, whether a shirt,

jacket or otherwise, must display the official CBUA patch either on or directly above

the left breast pocket [or where the pocket would be on a garment without a pocket]

for every game. Violation of this policy may result in removal of remaining games

on your schedule.

•Dark Gray umpire slacks, –not heather gray.

Washington: just make sure you match. But no red. Oregon: navy, black, pro blue during spring. Anything but red in the summer. Softball: no clue... don't really care.

Posted

Tennessee -- Navy hat, navy polo, navy undershirt...unless both partners agree on red -- that's it.  You can wear a black jacket when it gets cold (go figure).

We're also suppose to wear heather gray pants.  I don't get that one either, but I never have to worry about places not having my size since there's no demand for that color or pants.

Posted

Illinois - any color your partner wears, so that you match during the regular season. State playoffs Navy only, everything must match including pants. Most wear Davis Charcoal but 40% now wearing Poly wools.

Posted

Mississippi is any color w/ charcoal grey pants and navy/black wool or pro mesh cap, black shoes. Partners must match colors. Most common is black and power blue once it gets good and hot.

New Mexico sates

Shirts: Navy, Light Blue, Black or Cream as long as all partners match.  Navy pullover is technically only approved, but we all wear the black throughout the state.

Pants: Gray

Hats; Black or navy and must be fitted

Wish they would allow red to be worn, such a great color to reflect the sun in the warm days.  Not a huge fan of the look but like the comfort.

Here in Texas TASO has a few color choices that you can wear but the technical default is navy although no one really wears it. My chapter adopted black as the standard color that all members are required to have. Most people that have been around longer than a year or actually are working to improve their game have pretty much everything. For the most part in my chapter at least we stick t black and pro blue all year around. I tend to think that navy, red, and creme especially look a little rec ballish. TASO has yet to make the newer MLB SH*#s approved for highschool but word is that next year it is going to be allowed.
