Mahoney Posted September 14, 2014 Report Posted September 14, 2014 My junk... @Mahoney - So the one on the left is a champro magnesium?? It is a modified +POS magnesium. I removed that hideous nasolacrimal crest. Quote
rjt6 Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 @Mahoney - How did you remove that? Not that I'm doing that anytime soon...Just curious. Quote
acpar72 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 @Mahoney - How did you remove that? Not that I'm doing that anytime soon...Just curious. 4.5 inch grinder. Easy to do yourself. Just use the cutting tool to cut it then the polishing tool to make it look nice. Quote
Tksjewelry Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Where do you guys get the straps that attach the throat guards? Mine came with these awful leather ties and I need to get rid of them, or do I have to order a new throat guard? Quote

Aside from @acpar72's offer, straps like that also are at Home Depot or Office Max (I recommend Office Max... I get royalties) as "cord-binding" or "cable organization" straps. I've also been known to make functional, yet elegant, fasteners like this with zip-ties. 1 Quote

acpar72 Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 A surprise today for me...All the other Nike Non - retail steel masks I have seen or held have been standard profile and not the same profile as the Nike Titanium. They have also been almost as heavy as any other wilson 3007. This one is different. It is the same profile as the Ti (not low profile but between the 3009 and the 3077). It also is significantly low in weight. Notice the ear guards, almost EXACTLY the same as the Ti. Cool mask. I like it. The new one has the Wilson pads... 1 Quote

Ok, so you're saying that this is a non-retail Nike mask ....but its very light? I have a Nike steel that I really don't like actually ......it's way too heavy...far heavier than my FM25's..... Quote

Ok, so you're saying that this is a non-retail Nike mask ....but its very light? I have a Nike steel that I really don't like actually ......it's way too heavy...far heavier than my FM25's..... I posted the mask I got for my Dad for Father's Day on this thread awhile back and it's a Nike non-retail steel frame. It's by far the lightest steel frame I've ever come across. It's around the same weight as a Wilson titanium. In fact every Nike steel frame I've ever had any experience with has been incredibly light. It actually surprises me that there are Nike steel frames that are heavy. I will say that I think the quality control on them doesn't appear to be that great and that could be why some are heavier than others. Nike probably doesn't worry too much about it though because if someone receives one from them that they don't like they just replace it with another one until the user is happy with it. Of course we as second hand consumers don't have the luxury of being able to contact our local Nike mask rep and ask them for another one if we aren't happy with ours. Quote

This is EXACTLY like the Nike Ti...profile and weight. I am MOST surprised by the profile. It is every bit as shallow as the titanium version. Quote
