Changes, alterations to Unequal Force 3 chest protector
Mahoney replied to mbkcoach's topic in Umpire Equipment
I removed the dinky collarbone plastic plates that never seemed to stay in place and fortified the collarbone areas with WV Platinum shoulder pads. Now it covers the entire collarbone area. -
4.5 inch grinder. Easy to do yourself. Just use the cutting tool to cut it then the polishing tool to make it look nice. @rjt6 What acpar72 said. That'll do it. Polishing tool works nicely on the magnesium.

@Mahoney - So the one on the left is a champro magnesium?? It is a modified +POS magnesium. I removed that hideous nasolacrimal crest.

I took an image of the easton mask and altered it by removing the ear guard supports on the left side. How close is this to the mystery mask?

2nd one looks like a modified Easton catcher's mask. Although, back in 2011, perhaps it didn't have the support bars on the ear guards. http://www.easton.com/baseball/products/catcher/speed-elite-traditional-mask

Hmmm...let me know if you have any additional information on this guy so that I could better track him down.

Wow! What a good catch! Upon closer inspection, that mask is not even close to a Nike.

Okay...I have to be a jerk. The conversation about inside and outside reminded me of this....

No sewing. You'll just have to loop up the t-hooks. After that, you'll be good to go and find that it is the best fit you've ever experienced. So How do I attach it to the top of the cp?

How do you ring up the batter on a looking strike three? P.S.: I know the topic is grammatically incorrect. Should be ARE there no forums for ring-ups?

I have a new Douglas CP. Since I am rather tall (6'5"), I ordered the longer version with the three plates in the front. What I found is that since the t-hooks attached to the middle panel, the lower panel floats away from my body. I unfortunately don't have a fat gut that allows for the lower part to remain in contact with my body. It floats when standing, and it floats further from my torso when in the slot. I contacted Douglas, and it was suggested that I reshape the plates with the help of a hair dryer. Didn't work. So, I took my old Wilson Platinum and removed the lower panel. I attached some industrial velcro to the back and replaced the lower panel with it. Now, it conforms to my body perfectly. No gaps in protection, and it remains cinched up to my neck right were I want it. Don't know if anyone else has encountered this problem and could perhaps share any other solutions. I'm sure I could call Douglas to order a new lower panel with t-hook holes, but this way was much cheaper. Anyhow, here is a solution for those who may be looking.
