That's what ya call working!!! I loved everything about this from staying with the play to the emphatic selling of the call!

Had the same issue with my first pair of NB. I called them up and they replaced them before I even sent back the old ones since I needed them 2 days after I discovered the issue. Great customer service on behalf of NB, however the second pair did the same thing. This time it they were older than a year and more than 100 games in so NB didn't replace but offered me a $40 gift card or something. I went with the Reebok Magistrates instead. So far so good. They're still available on Amazon.

Really? That's news to me. I was trained to put the ball back in play every time the ball becomes dead. Can anyone verify the theory of "putting the ball in play is a wasted motion at that level?"

...and it appears the ejection was purely on him standing up and turning around as you can see in Alan's gesture with his hands to Hurdle .

Possibly almost in the base path between 1st and 2nd? As you have ball, bag, and then runner comes in from your right and you have the "V" directly in front of you?

Not to steal this thread but.... Your browser does not support iframes. Here's another player is thinking it's ok to throw equipment. Lesson here is, handle your business so no one else has to! He's obviously gotten away with it before so he thinks it's ok. I didn't know who this guy was before the video but he definitely didn't earn a fan tonight in attacking the umpire's personality and belittling him by saying "no one cares that you're back there calling balls and strikes."

Don't I know a recent pro school grad when I see him!! Looking good....from the plate stance to the strong hammer and timing!

No tag, no touch of homeplate, play is over, what's the call?

Remember that thread "keep officiating?" I think this could've fit in there. After the collision, I think he could've stepped in between the two to prevent it from escalating. Undoubtedly I think benches would have cleared either way but just an attempt at keeping it controlled would've been cool to see. -
I strongly disagree with the upheld protest. Who are you to say that a guy has to play his top 4 players in a game? I somewhat understand that Little League has a rule about everybody having to play (I think it's 6 consecutive defensive outs and one at bat) but as long as that requirement is met, why would they uphold the protest? As one Washington parent said, it was a thrill for him as his daughter doesn't usually get to play that much. The opportunity for some of the less skilled girls to play was presented and this coach took the opportunity to allow them to play. I'm not a fan of Little League ANYTHING especially after last year's stripping of Chicago's title. That's another story but two thumbs down for Little League.

I say no step while that might not be the right term, I do have him starting towards the plate.
-
Not sure if you're in the championship game or which umpire but I just saw an excellent no step balk called by the 1B guy. Lefty started towards home and threw to 1st. (Note: I'm not just saying this because I'm from Louisiana and it favored our guys. )

It looks as if he was originally in the slot but once the batter squared around he made an adjustment which left him over the plate. Sucks, but sometimes you've just gotta work.

Used WV Platinum with stock harness and a few alterations. I've cut the sternum pad and "wing" area. Give me a bid and pay shipping of your choice and we can probably make a deal.

....as I watch a called strike three that the Red Sox catcher didn't approve of. K zone had it as a cock shot!

In a collegiate summer league game last night there were two catchers regarding the dropped 3rd strike rule. The first was with bases loaded, F2: "Dropped 3rd strike I can just touch home plate right?" and the second showed just how little players actually know about rules of the game they play, "On a dropped 3rd strike if he swings, can he run?" That second one baffled me because I figured if you're catching in college you should know that. In reference to the first question I may be thinking too hard but the NCAA rule actually states that a batter is out when "after a third strike not caught or after the player hits a fair ball, the individual or first base is tagged before reaching that base." Therefore on a dropped third strike, is the batter really out if the catcher touches home? I know it's being picky because the runner from third becomes forced once the batter takes off for first. Thoughts?

Hind catcher. Ha! How about "back catcher" a similar term used here by some country older folks for Louisiana.

You guys have received games before the school year started? WOW! We usually don't get our games until the Sunday before the week let alone the beginning of the school year!
-
LOL Obviously not enough of the right people in my area. I'm looking for more camps to go to for some exposure. I think I'm ready to move up. I may need somebody to confirm it or tell me I'm not.

Not to hijack the thread but what about collegiate summer leagues? How does one get into these? I have worked in the TCL since there is a team in Louisiana in that league. What about Cape Cod or any other leagues? I figure that's a good time to network with higher level umpires who are where I want to be.
-
Really? That's good news. I was considering having my platinum retrofitted but came across the Unequal reviews today and it looks VERY low profile. You have any pics of you in each? Would love to see that. I'm 5'6 180 and pretty solid and I don't like the way I look in my WV Platinum. Too bulky. @mbkcoach
-
Looking for a gently used Unequal CP. I have a WV Platinum now and am looking for a lower profile. Anybody run across one or have one for sale, PM me please!
-
After reading all the positive reviews, I want one of these BAD! I'm a pretty muscular 5'6 180 and I'm tired of looking like a football player in my WV Platinum. There's no way I'm paying $280 for one when I'm already $160 in on my Platinum. I really want a low profile CP. Is anyone willing to part with their UE CP or know someone who is?
-
Am I mistaken Am I mistaken or should he have immediately gone third base line extended to take that play? It looks like he was surprised by the play.
-
IDK about you guys but I LOVE the awarding of the bases. He put an emphasis on it that you rarely see in MLB because the players somehow are expected to know their awards. He didn't award the middle guys (I guess they can figure it out).
