That sounds great Mike being as I just ordered it. LOL...hope it helps a rookie!

Has anyone read this book by George Demetriou? Is it worth the 16 bucks + shipping? I'm taking the test later this month and just wondering if this book would be a good study guide as it's titled.

Had the exact same thing happen to me TWICE and they made sure I had my shoes in time for my next game. NB customer service gets 5 stars!
-
Has anyone here ever used Mask It? Looks pretty cool. I'd like to get my frame powder coated the same color as my Polywools if possible!
-
I'm sure the white shoe strings can be exchanged. I thought the same negative thing when I first looked at them but I may wear them while they're fresh and then change them out for black as the season progresses.
-
Anybody tried these yet? They appear light and seem to be a nice shoe. I'm retiring my Zigs after a disappointing year and no longer want to wear the high top New Balances that I wore previously.
-
Just saw this as I browsed their listings looking for a re-air of The Third Team. I look forward to seeing this Unwritten Rules show as well!

You match Belt Widths???? mmm I wear 1.75" with all my Polywools. And you wear the Honig's Polywools? The 1.75" gives me trouble getting it through the belt loops. I just got my second set and I wanna make sure I have the entire LOOK down. Needless to say I wanna be sure to get my calls right. Dont fear. Looking the part will get you through 90% of the game. The rest however, you're SOL. HA. Tell me about it.

What do you guys wear? Patent or Genuine leather? I've normally worn a 1.75" patent belt but it doesn't fit into my polywools so now I'm thinking about a new belt and deciding whether to buy another patent leather or go genuine. Also, I'd obviously adjust to a 1.50" instead of 1.75".

I figured so. In the Fall scrimmages they did a great job of it but I was taught by other guys to still let them and the on-deck batter know to ensure that everybody's ready to go. I'm a pretty big pace of game guy and it irks me when teams are slow so I'm just making sure I won't seem like a red ass if I let them know and press the issue.

Here's a question for the college guys: If I give the 2 more pitches warning to the pitcher and catcher after 3 pitches for a returning but somehow catcher misunderstands that I mean to throw the 2nd one down, what do you do? Do you not allow him to throw down if he doesn't after 5 pitches. Am I prick if I tell him "Let's play" instead of allowing him to take a 6th pitch to be thrown down?

SEC, ACC and/or the Big XII are the ultimate goals. Living in Louisiana and not planning on relocating any further than TX, I think those conferences are possible. Thanks for the advice. I'll be looking to get in front of T. Thompson next fall. @Fittske24

Anybody seen when it's coming on again?
-
Great bit of advice. You're totally correct about only being able to be one place at a time. I'll be doing my research to learn who the upper echelon consists of throughout the season as I meet more guys in different conferences.
-
Who's your Non-Con assigner for Division 1 Games? That's correct.
-
My thoughts exactly, Mike. I'm really shopping the southern states and trying to be seen by Tony Thompson. I missed the opportunity to go to Pensacola this year but next year, I'm going to work hard to get seen.
-
Awesome. I'll check into that one. Being I'm in the south, I've considered International and Southern.

I'm a guy who'll be calling my first season of Division I baseball this year after graduating from The Umpire School this year. I'm looking forward to moving up in the college ranks and am trying to make a list of college camps to possibly attend next year. I know there are a lot of well-respected college umpires here. What camps do you guys recommend attending in 2014?
-
Pro school doesn't teach to point. What we see MLB guys do on TV, we simply cannot do. They're at the level we dream of being.
-
Anybody pick up the apparent batter's interference at around 2:17? The way the batter turned after the throw, it appears the umpire called something. What ya got there? It didn't appear to me but I see after all has concluded, the home plate umpire was walking forward as if he was about to inform the field guys of something.

Registration open for 2014

If you have the 4 weeks of vacation time or free time to go. I'm encouraging anyone to go! I went last year and although I wasn't picked up for profesional baseball, I gained one of the best experiences in life thus far. It was fun, I met great people, and it opened up doors that otherwise wouldn't have been open for me. Completion of TUS goes a long way with college assignors as well as helping get more HS playoff games. -
You meet only Fagan and Maybe Ryan.. the others are not Instructors at the SCUA camp. Gotcha. Those are two of the guys I met. Are you an instructor or a previous attendee? Neither.. but one of the umpires in his conferences... and I know the guys ( living in Southern Miss, and working college games with all of them)..LOL Hey, were you in Jackson this weekend? I was fortunate to attend. May have missed you. no i wasnt.. but why didnt you go to Tibodaux.. 1 hour drive.. 4 hour drive?...LOL Have a family obligation that weekend of Thibodaux. The drive was only 2-2.5 hours though. Hopefully I'll see you this year in conference. I enjoyed the camp thoroughly and was offered a job! Congrats... Did he say Non con.. or conference as well. CONFERENCE! I had already gotten the nod for non-conference but this weekend I was fortunate enough to advance to the conference staff.
-
Thanks. As MIdAm said, I may just wait for the 2014 manual if it's coming out in December.
