Nothing to rule on. Nature happens.

And that PbP / Broadcaster lived up to the stereotypical broadcaster way of exaggerating everything – "Five minute Deer Delay". Total runtime of the clip? 2:52. Actual time of delay? 42 seconds. Watch it, the deer enter at 0:18 and have fully left the field, with the BU giving the "all clear" gesture at 1:52.

Baseball doesn't have a "takes too much time problem". It has a problem with television folks with short attention spans.

I had that happen in a game my first year as an umpire.  The field had no fence in the outfield so they just came out and grazed.  I stopped the game and had the kids turn around so they could see the deer for awhile and then started the game again.

I had a couple of deer run across the field during warmups at a college game.  The first one jumped the fence.  The second didn't make it.  Long delay until buildings and grounds (or whoever) could get the dead deer off the field.

I’ve had a few dear delays. A lot less nerve racking than a bear delay. Only had one of them. Also had a turtle delay once.

So it was deer season and somebody had a deer stand in the right field bleachers?

Deer hit the fence and broke his/her (I didn't check) neck.

You shouldn't talk about your partner's ability to cover 3B like that, Rich.

In a game last week, as a player, had a "person outside the fence may have a gun, and is being aggressive" delay. Especially fun since there had been a shooting two blocks down the road the day before.

Ah, the joys of playing in the KC ghetto.

Geessh, Max.  5 minutes sounds a lot better than 42 seconds.

Had a gator delay once, such is life in Florida!

Also had a rattlesnake delay but that was in the early morning during field preps for the first game.  Pretty big snake, about 4 1/2 to 5 feet long.  Looks good mounted on my neighbors wall!

I forgot about rattlers.  Have had a rattler delay at Grossmont CC in San Diego and Imperial Valley CC in Imperial Valley.  I steered very clear of those damn rattlers.  So did the players and coaches.

We had a crime delay a few weeks ago lol. Some dumbass took a couple shots at a State Trooper and was on the loose in an apartment complex near where my games were. Cops showed up and cleared everybody out for about a half hour before they cornered the dude in his apartment. Fun times...

Good to know I wasn’t the only one.

Never had a deer delay ... I had a goose delay once in a softball game.  It wouldn’t leave left field.  I told the catcher we were going to go ahead and play, but if anybody hit the ball near the goose it would be a “fowl ball.”  Oh yeah, dad jokes.

I also had a dog enter the field and run off with a foul ball at a varsity baseball game.
