R2, Pitch comes in and deflects off of F2 at home plate and the energy from the pitch and deflection cause the baseball to go into the third base dugout.  No additional energy was applied to the baseball that caused it to enter the third base dugout.

R2 comes around and scores.

Any issues with this?

k.    Each runner is awarded one base if a pitch or any throw (e.g., a pick-off
attempt) by the pitcher from a pitching position on the pitching rubber goes
into the stands, bench or other dead-ball territory, is intentionally touched
by a spectator or lodges in an umpire’s or catcher’s equipment other than a
glove;

I worked my first college game with the guy in "C" position. I'd recognize that caboose anywhere. Hahaha.

This is PROOF POSITIVE of what I say a LOT during any "rules" discussion here on this board .....

95% of the people you're dealing with don't know the rules.(this goes for any level)   Let's add "Wright State" to the list ......

Make a ruling, sell it .....it's done

Or Murray State.

I'm not going to throw stones because I've messed up a rule before, but this one is pretty damn simple. If you're one of the base umpires and know the rule, come in and help so you get it right.

By the way, I don't like the "Well the teams didn't question it so they don't know the rules either" argument. It's our job, we should know the rules better than they do.
