We are only allowed to wear Black or Powder/Carolina Blue Ump shirts in our High School games, with White undershirts for the Black, Black undershirts for the Light Blues....The only other colors I have worn is the White Ump shirt during a 18U tournament in my wonderful Hell Hole city about 2 weeks ago when it was 108*....I wore Black under the White....

I like Scott only wear black or pro blue so i only wear black undershirts, i will take a white undershirt for the black shirt if partner wants to wear white.

Still in a navy association....ugh. Like navy under the powder blue (vs white) and under navy (vs red)

I still like Navy over Whote or Red on those shirts.

The only time I wear a white shirt, is a white mock turtle under my black jacket. And that's only if my partners are on board.

A white shirt under a jersey(unless it's a white jersey), IMO, makes you look like you should be carrying a lunch pail.

p.s. I couldn't care less with MLB umpires do, because I dress, and look better than most of them.

I'm sure they care how you look as they bring down an average $250,000 dollars a year, with first class airfare and first class accommodations/T&Es. :beerbang:question1: .

In Arizona we were always told white under powder blue and navy under navy blue. Those were really the only two that I wore. Since coming to STL and umpiring in Missouri and Illinois I've seen that they typically wear navy under powder blue and red or navy or under navy blue. So I just wear navy under both.

I wear black about 90% of the time...but that's because I'm wearing a black, cream, or polo blue shirt most of the time. I wear navy under navy.

When I'm behind the plate...I wear the first UA shirt I grab. Color doesn't really matter since it's not showing.

I wear mocks in the field, but not behind the plate...unless it's really cold and I wear cold gear under a jacket or long sleeve shirt. In that case I color coordinate it with my shirt or jacket.

My point, Danny the Man, was to have folks not look to MLB for fashion guidance. Heck, there was a fellow wearing no undershirt, and some sort fabric necklace last week in an MLB game. Oh, and all his shirt buttons were undone. Classy.

my association is strictly powder blue so always a navy undershirt for me

Is it a softball association?

I understood your point completely, thank you. My point is that the supposed best of the best don't care about how good you look. I offer a gift certificate out for best dressed ump every year. We have never received an entry. Worst dressed ump always gets plenty.

I agree that looking like an ump is important, but there is a difference between looking Captain/Admiral inspection good, and looking working good. Sounds like you might have never got gig'd in the service.

I wear whatever color i am wearing on the outside. IF i am wearing navy, i have a navy shirt on underneath. IF i am wearing the pro powder blue, then i wear powder underneath. If i am wearing black, then its a black undershirt.

I wonder if we go with the red piping on the navy shirt to use a red undershirt.  Why many places doesn't use the white undershirt for the black shirt do to the white piping?
