Guys, ...

ever seen this?

Outs don't matter .....

R2

F1 in the stretch, .... F5 and the rest of the infield charge in yelling BUNT BUNT BUNT ..... (all infielders)

Center fielder comes in ...F1 turns for a pick off of second and they nail R2 by throwing to F8!

Ever seen this ???

I was BU, and thinking ...what the heck is going on ?!?! :D

I could be wrong but is it a possible Verbal Obstruction? Runner to 3rd? :question1:

Posted

I dunno about the verbal obstruction call. They could legitimately - if not seriously - say they really did expect the bunt. 3B Coach needs to pay a wee bit more attention.

Comon guys - its right in rule 17.04(a) in OBR and 23-2-1 in FED - faking out an opponent is an automatic ejection AND if by the offense, an out; if by the defense, the offense gets an extra out to be used at any time in the game. I'm surprised y'all didn't know this one.

Not even close to verbal obstruction.

Most often you'll see this play with R1, F3 charges hard and F4 covers first for the pick.

Your FED book must be out of date, as my current FED book has that rule as 24-2-1 subsection a.

Ha - offense gets what they deserve for falling asleep at the wheel. Would have been even funnier if the 3B coach started yelling "no one, no one" to get R2 to take an even bigger lead.

I have seen similar play but no infield coming in or yelling, just F8 in stealth mode coming in behind R2

Really! I have seen this defensive move done a couple of times without success. I've never seen R2 not get back in time. Usually somebody says, "hey watch the center fielder," and squashes this little bug of a play.

Why wasn't I notified about this change by registered letter according to Rule 22-4-7 subsection 32? I should write them a nasty letter about this! I take severe umbrage. :hopmad:

If you do write them a letter, just say you are "pissed off." "Severe umbrage" might just leave them scratching their noggins.

I think there's a pill to treat "severe umbrage."

Though if it lasts for more than 4 hours, you're supposed to see a doctor

This won't happen with the newer lower dosage daily umbrage, although if it's to severe you might just have to see a gynecologist

Careful...just b/c it is a good play doesn't mean it is illegal.

Haven't seen it w/ F8, but there are versions of this play where F5, F4, and F3 all charge the plate and they throw behind R2 or R1 for pick off play...if they're going to try to pick R1, they throw to F4.

I would recommend a urologist, but if you want to see a gynecologist, have at it. I am sure the waiting room for an OB/GYN is a lot more "pleasing" to the eye than that of a urologist. But, then again, what do I know.

Side effects do include loss of appetite, hair, sex appeal and increased property taxes.

Probably but by no means guaranteed. I'd post something to prove my point, but there's no way in hell I'm googling "Rosie O'Donnell stirrups".

Yeah, that's not a pretty image at all now, is it? There are some exceptions to the rule.
