High School game, I am on the plate. R1 is at 2nd, R2 at 1st with nobody out and no count. F3, anticipating bunt, is creeping in so R2 has an extra couple steps. Batter swings away and fists a blooper towards 1st. IFR enters my mind, but it's not high enough. F3 turns over his left shoulder and takes 2-3 quick steps, but just before the he reaches the ball (which I believe he certainly would have) he's bumped (nothing malicious) by R2 returning to first. Ball glances of the end of F3's glove over FOUL territory, and lands uncaught just past the bag. Your choices: A. Foul ball, and nothing else. Both runners return, and batter goes back to plate with 1 strike. B. Foul ball and interference. Batter is out, and both runners stay where they were at TOP. C. Foul ball and interference. R2 is out, R1 stays at 2nd. Batter continues to bat with 0-1 count. D. Foul ball and interference. Batter and R2 are both out. R1 stays at 2nd.

Bases loaded, 1 out. Fly ball to R/C - caught. R3 tags w/o incident, scores. R2 bluffs. R1 half way retreats to 1st. Batter/runner continues to run the basepath and approaches 2nd bases drawing a throw from the cut off man - 9-4 who sees retired runner and throws to 6 who applies tag and base umpire calls him out thinking it was R1 just being off the bag. Well as plate, I look up to see my partner's fist go up and now I'm thinking WTH - that's 3 outs. Defense clears the field and in the meantime we realize that a mistake was made. After some bs we get everyone back and resume play R2 and R1 at their original bases. This team has a propensity to do this sort of crap so I have a word w/ the coach suggesting they not continue the practice with the threat of interference being reached for. He knows what he's done and says he'll "continue to teach his kids to run every play out....blah, blah, blah." I've got them again this week and I've also heard from others in our association that it's a reoccurring problem with just this team. My question is: Can I get an out if the defense reacts to this practice and what is the rule of casebook support? I hope I was clear. Trying to do this while "on the clock".... Thanks for any help. Association president is likely to chime in as an answer is pending from him as well. Ironhead

WARNING: Your ears may bleed from Harrelson who's is the biggest homer announcer, ever. His partner clearly says "that's interference, yep" and Harrelson disagrees and just sounds like (once again) the biggest a-hole there is......... Jesus Hawk, you played the game forever, and been around it longer, and you still have NO CONCEPT OF THE RULES ...none! Varsity high school game / FED: Bases loaded, one out. F1 throws a pass ball and F2 hustles after it. F1 comes in to cover the plate as R3 is running home. The batter (left handed hitter) makes a fairly non-chalant attempt to get out of the play, but the throw from F2 to the plate hits the batter in the back of the helmet. The ball richocets off the helmet far enough for a second run to score (R2 from second base). Umpires say that "the batter got out of the box, so it's still a live ball. Both runs score." The coach disagreed, but wasn't going to win the arguement. The team on Defense ended up losing by 1 run, so this was a big play in the game. The way I read the rule book, is that this is a "delayed dead ball" situation and since no out was made due to the Batter Interference and there were less than 2 outs R3 should have been called out and R2 should have been sent back to 3B. What's the right call?

With R1 at first and no outs, B1 swings and misses for strike one. While the pitch is in flight, someone in the offensive team’s dugout yells “runner.†F2 catches the pitch and immediately throws to second base. No fielder is in position to catch the throw and it goes into center field. R1, who was not running on the pitch, advances to second. Ruling for each code?
