Too quick IMO. Especially if you didn't hear him, don't invite him to repeat himself. It looks like you're baiting him. Since you did bait him into a response, responding with a "We're not going there coach" and then moving on would be a better approach. If he wants to continue then you can address it from there. Being a hired gun for a game that needs it doesn't mean you need to shoot them before they give you a reason to.

I noticed that as well though I think what I originally saw was posts that were made prior to the upgrade. The @ with the name drop down is a nice feature though!

Here's what I was talking about with this: " Can't seem to delete nested quotes from posts that are quoted"Can't delete the highlighted part. Not sure if this is intended functionality or not.

I agree. To put it another way, if you call time, call the coach out and then start having a conversation with him before awarding bases you're going to gin up more controversy by looking indecisive. The best way to do this is to confidently and authoritatively call Time, make your call and award bases. If the coach wants an explanation, he can get one after the call and award is made. You're not looking for his buy in and approval here.

Umpires eject entire roster of both teams
Welpe replied to Umpstradamus's topic in Umpire News From Around the Web
Considering the area, I'm not that surprised sadly. Get out of the way and protect yourself. I acknowledge that sometimes this is easier said than done but it is important. I'm glad to see that they canned the game instead of trying to keep it going like we've seen in other places. -
That's what made me think I was missing something!

Is there more to this post? All I see the is the title. Just making sure I'm not missing anything.

I use Tapatalk for several forums so I'm holding out for it but I'm willing to wait patiently.

Here's what I've seen so far. I'll keep updating this post as I go. Quote tags on old posts are brokenCan't seem to delete nested quotes from posts that are quoted[sidebar] tags need fixing@user tags brokenMLB video embed code is brokenCan't delete own posts?Signatures missingThis one may not be one you have control over. Doing a search on google using site:umpire-empire.com <search string> the URL returned doesn't resolve. For example, http://umpire-empire.com/index.php/topic/55108-diamond-big-league-mask/ just goes back to http://umpire-empire.com. It seems that the new site uses adds a "?" after index.php when resolving links.

Two recent favorite plays of mine: 1. Worked a game with a partner new to me. As a BU in A, deep fly ball that I go out on that ends up being uncaught. Just as my partner and I pre-gamed, I rotated back down to home and was standing at the point of the plate ready for a call. He looked back, saw me and gave me a nod. 2. Called a balk as BU that the batter hit for a base hit and resulted in the R1 being thrown out at 3B.

The code being out of date means that there have been newer versions of the forum software released. The main reason this is a concern is that hackers/trouble makers will find exploits in older versions and then do bad things to the site, leaving you as a user more vulnerable. I contend that often things aren't less intuitive or harder to use, just new and unfamiliar which is why when folks get familiar with a new interface, they stop complaining about it.

I actually like it...except that Tapatalk isn't working but I figure you're working on that. I can already see several changes that I like quite a bit. This reminds me of when FB changes. Everyone complains for a while and then goes along just fine until the next time it's changed and then repeats the process. Thanks for keeping this place maintained, Warren. It is a great resource. If you say so.

AD texts me all night to complain about a call
Welpe replied to sroberts9337's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
I agree. I'm saying what I would have done instead of responding to the AD in the first place. Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube now. -
That is why I was asking, yes. Don't take it as a personal slight.

AD texts me all night to complain about a call
Welpe replied to sroberts9337's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
Agree. Refer him to your assigner. If he continues to harass you, report him to the state. I agree with this although I'd be seriously considering submitting a report to the state with the contents of the original message anyways. That's highly unprofessional for an AD to be doing that. -
I got burned by Honig's lack of customer service around some low quality football pants they made that still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's one of the reason I haven't brought myself to buy Poly Wools because I don't want to spend that much money with them.

Smitty and Dalco both make a grey shirt. http://www.purchaseofficials.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=1003 I'm all about going away from Navy and traditional powder. Those were fine 15 years ago. Not now.

Not a bad idea, T-Rav. Thanks. I use a light murphy's solution as well and haven't had an issue with residue building up. I spray the shoes and then wipe them down with a damp microfiber cloth and use a soft bristle tooth brush on the hard to clean parts. Always comes out looking great and I've had several partners ask me how I like my new plate shoes that I've been wearing for over 3 seasons. There is no point in putting shoe polish on synthetic material shoes and truthfully with spit shining, ain't nobody got time for that (well at least I don't).

I prefer Trinity personally, easier on the eyes. Suffer the Bam-a-quences. That is beautiful.

Do you think the runner slid because the F2 was blocking the plate? I didn't see it of course but that sounds like OBS to me.

They're still grumpy from the World Series? This cracked me up. Lorenzo Cain doing his best Cornholio impression.

We've all done it!! You just have to laugh about it
Welpe replied to Thunderheads's topic in Professional
I figured it was Hot Baseball Mom. -
It's absolutely relevant because the wording of the rule is the coach assisting the runner. If he's hindering him, that's the opposite of assisting. I will agree to disagree as well but don't accuse me of spinning it when you're doing plenty of your own. The bottom line for me is that the runner was not actually assisted.
