There's nothing wrong with a coach stepping in front of his runner in and of itself. I'm not sure how that should factor in as a criterium on this play. What physical assistance was given to the runner in this play? He was already stopping and changing directions when he collided with his coach. The coach didn't give him a push back to the base. He didn't grab him and hold him up from continuing on. I just don't think this is enough to call.

I have a feeling the distribution on that question is going to be quite predictable. I do like your restrict - eject 1-2 combo. Only Fed could make this much of a mishmash of the rules.

I wear Smitty exclusively and haven't had a problem with them. They hold up very well.

I'll try to take my Giant fan cap off for this one (especially against the Dodgers) but looking at this objectively, I don't see that the 3B coach actually assisted the runner here. The runner was already stopping and turning around when he bumped into the 3B coach. I'd pass on this in any level I'm working. The one time I did call this, the 3B coach grabbed the runner by the waist band and helped pick him up after he fell. That's about where my standard is for that, it has to be material assistance.

Sidebar True though I never said it was. With how plain those jackets are, perhaps something similar from Wal-Mart would work for amateur ball.

It's happened to me a couple of times. Talk about wanting to hide under the plate. Fortunately for me, I just had people laughing. Not fans in Milwaukee booing me. -
Sidebar It's not bad with the numbers and MLB logo. I think it'd look pretty plain how we are more likely to wear it though. That ball had quite the tail on it. It's counter-intuitive but when it is tailing like that, one step to the right puts you out of harm's way. Much easier said than done when the ball is screaming towards you I acknowledge!

Even without the extra jab step the F2 takes, I believe he has denied access to the base without the ball. Put me down for OBS in Fed.

This is true however there is likely a difference in reporting for a player being restricted for an illegal sub and being disqualified/ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.

So an ejection (known as a DQ in Fed) then? You can't restrict a player for that.
