None of my umpire gear goes in the dryer. It all gets hung to dry.

I've always said catcher's are the smartest players on the field. Signed, A Former F2

I have to look and see what I'm at. It's not many but I'm keeping busy enough

That always seems to be a bone of contention between softball and baseball umpires. Congrats on going to the NUS. I've yet to attend but if I end up getting back into fastpitch I'm sure I will.

I noticed a similar difference when I started calling Pony. The other day, I was PU and balled a close pitch that could have (probably should have) been Strike 3. The pitcher grimaced a little but that was it. Between innings he came back out to me and apologized for his behavior out there. I was gobsmacked.

We had the same out this way. I was thinking the other day that I should probably start using a pad soon. Today I would've needed a jacket if I had a game.

Sounds like he was just a crappy umpire.

That game where the umpires are already leaving when your HS game is in the 4th inning. :)

Agree with Michael. I've done both. Baseball mechanics on the baseball field, softball on the softball field. Yes even the dreaded "Dead ball! "

An open mind allows a lot of garbage to be thrown in.

But don't throw away ie because Chrome is less than perfect IMHO! I've yet to run into an issue where something wouldn't work in Chrome but would in IE.

Hitting the helium tank a little too hard, Jocko?

I was a catcher and liked umpires that would talk some. I try to make it a point to be cordial and will small talk with them some unless they show no interest. I will also compliment them if they dig out a tough pitch or something similar. I don't tend to talk to other players much unless they initiate the conversation.

Thanks Richvee. I guess I'm going to have to swallow my pride and spend some money with the Big H.

You should have told her that the paragons of fashion, baseball umpires, have decreed that tucking jackets, patent leather belts (without matching shoes) and creased ball caps are what the discerning individual should wear. Now 'scuse me, I need to go have my suit pants let out so I can tuck my suit coat in.

So how'd you train your wife?

The SEC rides again...

So how does he avoid contact he didn't create? Do you understand why this is such a bad interpretation? Under Federation rules, this interpretation is not only wrong, it is patently absurd. I'd rather be gigged for failing to follow such a silly mandate rather than actually enforce it. The coaches hold the cards in Texas and I guarantee that the vast majority of them don't want this called MC.
-
It's his obligation to avoid contact he has no chance to actually avoid. Do you realize how crazy that sounds? Again, I don't see that interpretation applying here.
-
That's all well and good. I don't see that interpretation applying herr. I still don't have MC. The runner did not initiate contact.
-
The catcher was pulled into the path of the runner. The runner pulled up as he saw the catcher go into his path. Ergo, the runner is not responsible for the contact. That is not MC. I have OBS in Fed and LL. Train wreck in OBR.

I don't know if you've done it yet but I noticed I was able to post tonight. If so, thanks!

The Mozilla Netscape reading on that isn't always accurate. I was on here today with IE 9 and it said the same thing. Do you open the blue "e" to get to your browser?

Are you using Tapatalk or the browser?
