  1. We had a cold front blow in yesterday. It hit a low of 36 and is only 60 right now. It pretty humid last Friday on a plate I worked and I actually sweated a decent amount.
  2. The lineup card shouldn't say anything yet for the 8 spot. Sure it can if you accept a substitution that may or may not be projected depending upon what you define a projected substitution to be.
  3. I guess it really depends upon what the definition of "is" is. I think most of us can agree the disagreement in this thread comes down to one fundamental difference and that is the definition of what is a projected substitution. The Fed never seems to clearly define it but the pre-season guide that Johnny posted may be a clue as to how they intend it to be defined. This is not as cut and dried as one may think.
  4. Congrats! Don't suck. :)
  5. Reading the preseason guide, it seems the intent of the Fed is to define projected substitutions according to #2 in Rich's post. I agree with JM's interpretation and handling of this play. It just also happens to be the cleanest way this situation works out and the manager gets the substitution he intended to make.
  6. I thought the same thing initially. It took a little time for mine to conform to my body but now I love it.
  7. Experience is a heckuva teacher. Thanks for sharing.
  8. I came back last year from a 9 year layoff. It will come back to you. Have a good pregame with your partner. Breathe and relax. You'll do fine. And lastly, don't suck.
  9. What size is it?

  11. I'm in the same boat, Jax. I have one brand of plate shoe I can wear and that's NB. Thankfully I like the NB but I'd like to try a low top instead. I did try going a half size to a size up on the Reebok shoes and they were longer but still too narrow. For bases and football, I've found that the Adidas Turf Hogs fit pretty well. I did also just pick up a pair of Nike Trainer 1.3 turf shoes that the NFL officials are now wearing for my football crew's shoe. I went a half size up and they fit like a dream.
  12. That is awesome! I hope my daughter picks up my interest in officiating one day. I wish my dad had been an official, it would've been a neat thing to work a game with him.
  13. I am fairly OCD about my gear bags and remembering them so thankfully not yet. I've been known to go out to my car at lunch and not only check to make sure the bag is there but also rifle through it and ensure I have everything. My biggest concern is over leaving my shoes on the workbench after cleaning them and of course, forgetting my cup when it's my turn on the stick.

I forgot to mention that my one regret was that I didn't do just that.

And how! Last year I was a new guy in my group so nobody knew me. I worked the bases with a pretty good umpire on the plate. We had pregamed that on trouble balls with no one on I'd rotate back towards the plate after going out. Sure enough, early in the game we had just that. At the end I'm standing at the point of the plate grinning with the PU at the 3B cut out and the BR on 3rd. There wasn't a call to make but it really is hard to beat a well executed rotation.
  16. You think this is bad? Try working for a Fortune 100 company. Good lawd. This thread reminds me of a computer game I loved on the late 90's called Acrophobia. You played online in a chatroom. The game ran in rounds where a random acronym was generated and players had so long to create a meaning for the acronym. Once the time expired the players voted anonymously for their favorite. It was a great game.
  17. While eating lox?
  18. I think everyone was too awestruck by the sanctimonious tone to notice.
  19. ONE thing ...with arguably only ONE function ....almost 5 pages .... at least the Finnerty Supply Bucket involves numerous things!! I blame all of you currently buried under 25 feet of snow.
  20. I don't know but it is a frigid 63 right now.
  21. I'll take one if you want to part with it.
  22. Wear it and call strikes. The latter part is important.
