I couldn't really tell from the angle whether it hit the runner or the 1B just flubbed an on-target throw...

I circled the player and ball ....looked inside to me the whole way ....but PU has a play at the plate coming also ....

Yes, the runner is inside, so he's liable for an INT call.  There still needs to be INT, though --it's not automatic.  And, like scrounge, I can't tell if that's what happened or not.

I think the ball hit him as he reached the base: no hindrance = no INT.

 

In any case, it's awfully tight. Either call is probably supportable. Here's the ball about to hit the runner.

I have interference.  BR running inside the entire way and hit with the throw prior to reaching first which prevented F3 from catching the throw.

look rule. 6.05k... the BR ran the entire way in fair territory, he is only allowed to exit the lane to touch the base in the last slide, step, or reach of the base..

 

Now you must also have a quality throw, ( which there was)...

RLI is one of the hardest for guys to call... umpires get scared, your going to call someone out, and possibly move a runner back, take off a run.. something... so it is very tough for a lot of guys to call.

Not for me. I like paperwork. I don't find it coincidental that every game in the past three years I've had an EJ as PU, I've had RLI against the ejectee's team earlier in the game.

My ejection rate is 50% on RLI calls.  For every 2 RLI calls I make, 1 will end in an ejection. 

 

So be it.  I won't shirk my responsibility.
